So why is everyone a little pissed about the schedule?? As Jets fans, I think we can all realize that our team does BETTER when we fly under the radar. So we have one primetime game against KC Sunday night, and no Monday night football games...who cares??? The J-E-T-S are going to fly under the radar AGAIN this year and kick ass!
well i think that people are dissapointed because even though our team is likley to improve, our record is likley to be the same. They want an easier schedual so the record shows improvment... i dont think too many people are worried about the primetime and monday night.
Under what radar? We had the 30th hardest schedule last year and the 6th hardest this year. When we play the games doesn't change who we play them against.
I know but they somehow translate that to us winning 10 or 12 games with the schedule we have which just amazes me. We really weren't all that good last year, we just played a lot of really bad teams.
well, personally, with the draft, and another year in the system, i think that we will win 10 games...and thats an improvement.
If we do I totally agree. I just can't see how we will. 4 of the first 6 games are against playoff teams and then we have a stretch late in the season of 4 out of 5 away games.
The only way to determine the difficulty of a schedule is by the end of the season, not in the offseason before any team has selected a draft pick or finished with FA or had training camp or any injuries. Preseason schedule grades are almost ALWAYS wrong.
Good point, you never know which teams will flop this season. A team like the Eagles could easily go down the toilet, as well as Cincy, Dallas, Tennessee. Hell, if Tom Brady gets injured- it changes the entire outcome of the season that New England touches. Its April, lets wait until the season begins to see what goes on.
I'd rather have a under the radar year and kick some serious ass then say its a superbowl season and go 4 and 12 again
Hmm..no dude, it's the 6th hardest. http://www.theredzone.org/strength.asp You can find it on 100 other links too.
They will change but that doesn't change how the schedule is made. They have nothing else to base it on other then what teams did last year. It actually changes weekly.
Am I the only one who thinks that "flying under the radar" is nonsense? It's a BS term used by sports announcers for teams that we're expected to be terrible, but are hanging around in the playoff hunt. NFL coaches know there schedules, and every team on it is on the radar. Nationally televised games don't put you on or off the radar except too markets that might otherwise never see a particular team play. Those fans mean jack shit when two teams meet on the football field.
I don't really think anyone has us under the radar this year considering with what mangini did in his first season and he will most likely have a much more talented and balanced team this year.
Flying under the radar is a term that applies when a team is making a lot of small moves designed to improve the roster without making any big splashes that would signal a big improvement. Generally I think it's a good description for any team that is actively trying to improve itself without gaining a lot of traction in the media in the process. Dive-bombing is how I would decribe the opposite phenomenon where a team is making all sorts of high profile moves without really improving the team. The Redskins dive-bomb every season, leading to the "pull up! pull up!" reaction of their fans just before they go down in flames yet again.
I think some people want the primetime games b/c they dont live in the area and they want to get the games on TV..
+1 It's complete crap. A year after seeing all our shifts and formations on O and increased progress on D no actual team is going to relax in there preparation for the jets. Fans/Media and there perceptions have absolutely nothing to do with how a team prepares to play another team.
