Maybe to you...But as evident in so many other discussions, the obsession of Mets fan to the Yankees is overwhelming and hilarious. It's as if some would rather talk about the Yankees than their own Mets, not pointing any names out of course:wink:
The Islanders and Rangers fans have a better relationship with one another than Mets and Yankees fan, and they're in the same division! This is crazy
What's hilarious is the arrogance of the certain Yankee fans. What I feel towards these types of fans certainly isn't jealousy, it's more like hatred. It's the chicken and the egg. Because of past Yankee success certain fans are insufferable assholes whos faces I enjoy rubbing in shit at every opportunity. If they won 70 games a year for a decade I wouldn't feel this way because the same certain fans would be nowhere to be found. When you try to act like the only reason people say anything about the Yankees is jealousy or obsession you get put in the insufferable asshole category in my book.
Man, Ecko, I seriously hope you're just putting on a bit of an exaggerated facade here for the fun of instigating, because if all of this is your genuine opinion, you really need a nice big dose of reality. You see, when Mets fans try to talk about the Yankees players and games, that's not jealousy. That's just wanting to, duh, talk about baseball. I dunno if you're trying to mark this as "Yankee Only" territory or what, but you're doing a helluva job of pissing all over every thread. So. You gonna keep parroting the same nonsense, or can we talk about baseball?
Care to break it down a little further? Sorry, I'm just not familiar with any of the bullpens. Plus...starting pitching is way more valuable than the bullpen, especially since the all 4 teams have very good offenses.
Being Hated? MOST people who don't like the Yanks, do hate them, they are the Evil Empire after all right? And what shit can a Mets fan rub in? You can roll around in your own shit with the Mets with no problem. Their are those types of people who don't like the Yankees, that just talk Yankees in a level-headed manner, but a majority is just to stir something or get a rise out of the Yankee fan, it's nothing new, so don't feel bad. Insufferable asshole category in YOUR book...Hmm, pretty thoughtful:rofl:
They just want to talk baseball? Again, I said SOME Mets fans are like that, but of course their are these... I never said ALL Mets fans can't just talk baseball without being childish and making stupid remarks just to try and get a laugh, which he fails. Their are those few Mets fans, RedSox fans(rare), and other fans who would talk just baseball instead of just spewing bullshit like usual.
No, I don't hate the Yankees, I hate Yankee fans. I root for the Yankees to lose so their fans will be miserable.
And that is perfectly fine and I like that coming from a Mets fan, honestly. Nothing wrong with that and I feel the same way on RedSox and Patriots fans...Although I hate the Patriots AND their fans...
Red Sox pitching depth isn't that great. The bullpen is still pretty bad, they only have one good pitcher (Papelbon), and they weakened their starting staff by adding him. I would take the Yankees rotation over the Sox (although it is close), and the Yankees bullpen is miles ahead of the Sox bullpen. Phillies probably have the better rotation with Myers and Hamels, but I'd definitely take the Mets pen over theirs, even with Sanchez missing maybe the entire season. I can't see how one could make the argument that either team has much of an advantage over the other in the pitching department. Especially the Yankees-Sox. Even if you say their rotations are even, the Sox bullpen isn't even in the same league.
I am of the opinion that teams need quality bullpens to make the postseason and have success in the postseason. Teams with good offenses and good bullpens can be quite successful even with spotty starting pitching (see the 2006 Mets for a recent example; the Mets used 13 different starting pitchers that season). key guys in the bullpens in question- NYM- Wagner, Heilman, Schoeneweis, Mota (when he comes back off suspension) PHI- Gordon, Geary, Madson, Alfonseca NYY- Rivera, Farnsworth, Proctor BOS- Papelbon, Donnelly, Romero Somebody else can post the full bullpens because I have to settle in to watch the TEN/RUT and NYM/STL games.
^Tavarez last I read has moved into the Sox starting rotation to replace Papelbon... So take out Tavarez and add Joel Piniero, hahaha.
ANYWAY...To get back on topic, if that's possible. ARod is just getting over analyzed. Once he hits an 0-4 game, which will happen, or a 3-12 streak, which will happen...The non-ARod supporters will just add fuel to their fire and point out every little blemish ARod makes... Like most have said, this is his last season to produce as a Yankee...He HAS to produce in the postseason and win a championship.
We'll do each bullpen's top 5 guys, and put their 2006 ERA+. Yankees Rivera - 243 Farnsworth - 100 Proctor - 125 Vizcaino - 133 Bruney - 503 Red Sox Papelbon - 500 Romero - 65 Pineiro - 68 Donnelly - 111 Snyder - 70 Mets Wagner - 193 Heilman - 119 Schoeneweis - 97 Mota - 98 Feliciano - 207 Phillies Gordon - 139 Alfonseca - 84 Madson - 81 Geary - 157 Condrey - 147
So what happened to this being an ARod thread? A Mets fan derailed the conversation, yet it's the Yankee fans who are assholes. Don't believe me? Well, for the first 10 posts, the conversation was STRICTLY about ARod. Then in post 11, here is what a Mets fan had to say: Yeah, that sounds just like a Yankee fan talking shit. ------------------ As for me, when the Yankees were languishing through the 80's, I was there. I grew up on names like Pags, Rags, Winfield, Henderson, Randolph, Mattingly, Gator. Yeah, I was there when the Yankees were bad. As a matter of fact, I walked away from baseball when the strike happened. If anyone remembers, that's when the Yankees started winning. I watched the World Series because it was the Yankees, and I couldn't help myself, but I didn't truly come back to the game until my son decided he wanted to make baseball his life's dream. So nice try boys. It's never ceases to amaze me how Mets fans can consistently be caught with their hands in the cookie jar, with a dumbfounded look on their faces, and say with a straight face "I wasn't trying to steal a cookie, I swear!" LTS, my beef wasn't with you, and perhaps generalizing all Mets fans into one category was a bit unfair. (You did talk straight baseball in the game thread yesterday, which is respectable.) However, it hasn't stopped a number of other Mets fans from swarming in droves to argue once again.
A few factors to keep in mind: 1. Relievers are very volatile beings beyond the very good and elite ones. 2. 1 year does not = trend. 3. Sample size for quite a few of these guys (Bruney, Condrey) are very small. 4. Pineiro was a starter last year. 5. Relievers are really volatile.
Of course, but the Yankees have three guys who have had more than one or two years of success at the ML level and are still pitching to that level (Rivera, Farnsworth, Vizcaino). Sox have no one who can say that (Papelbon is great, but has only done it for one year). Same with the Mets-Phillies.
