Dolphins | Bowens could re-sign Wed, 21 Mar 2007 19:26:04 -0700 Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports unrestricted free-agent DE David Bowens could re-sign with Miami Dolphins after receiving interest from the New York Jets.
I think this, combined with the fact that there has been no effort to extend Hobson at this point, is a good indication that the Jets will draft an OLB (maybe a mid rounder), give that player a year to be the understudy and learn the system, and then try to move Hobson or let him go.
I still would like to see us pick him up, but it appears either he thinks he's worth more than he is or he was trying to use us to squeeze more coin out of the Fins. If so, I trust Tangini to have a plan B. I also stand by my prediction that even if we sign this guy we could still go OLB early on day one.
Why is that? Is there an age limit for depth signings? Depending on what the dollar amount is, he would be a fine signing as a situational pass rusher, regardless of his age..
The above statement is really kind of silly. Yeah he could re-sign with the Dolphins, or maybe he'll sign with the Jets. Or let's see, maybe he'll sign with the Pats. By the way, I have a feeling the sun will set today, just a hunch....
I think OLB is our biggest defensive need next to CB...I mean, D-Slob's not going anywhere and the Staff seems to like him, but a pass-ruhsing OLB is a major defensive need, which I see us filling within the first 3 picks of the draft.
Bryan Thomas wasnt locked up until the middle of the year. The jets will extend Hobson. He is young, improving and one of the only players on our team at the moment who can get to the qb.
The can keep him. We got Kenyon Coleman and we can pick up someone like Ikaika Alama-Francis in the draft out of Hawaii or Brian Robison out of Texas who just had a GREAT pro day down in Long Horn Country. Keep Bowens, I'm not interested.
I would like him - we've filled every other hole with passable players - why not fill this one. By the way, i too think we'll resign hobson.
More info on Bowens from todays Post article... http://www.nypost.com/seven/03232007/sports/jets/tuiasosopo_to_join_jets_jets_mark_cannizzaro.htm The Jets also remain interested in Dolphins' DE David Bowens, who has 18 sacks in the last three seasons. The two sides are still working on an agreeable number. Two other teams, believed to be Carolina and New England, are interested as well. And, Bowens has not ruled out returning to the Dolphins.
Cimini says a decision is coming down today, I personally think he will be going back to the Dolphins but we will see... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...2007-03-27_gang_takes_flier_on_wadsworth.html They may add another defensive end, with free agent David Bowens (Dolphins) expected to decide today between the Jets, Dolphins and Panthers.
