AOL was the first to pick it up (they got it from Norm Clarke), and I beat them to it by hours. http://mlb-awards.aolsportsblog.com...rter-brawls-with-bengals-levi-jones-in-vegas/ A fist fight between two NFL players broke out in the Palms casino on Sunday night, sources said. Joey Porter, an All-Pro linebacker who recently left the Pittsburgh Steelers to join the Miami Dolphins, brawled with Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones, at about 6 p.m. at a blackjack table in the casino. Jones, who suffered scratches, told Las Vegas police he would be filing charges against Porter. ==== They've been enemies for some time now, dating back to the Bengals-Steelers rivalry.
http://www.aolsportsblog.com/2007/0...d-for-punching-levi-jones-at-blackjack-table/ That is one game I just might have to watch just for the brawls.
of course I'm glad. Aside from any legal problems, this guy wasn't worth the money Miami gave him. He's on the downside of his career. It was a terrible signing, and this only makes it look worse.
Joey Porter Accused of Hitting Bengal By KEN RITTER, Associated Press Writer 50 minutes ago In this Jan. 22, 2006, file photo, Pittsburgh Steelers ... LAS VEGAS - Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was accused of punching Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones after police said the players exchanged trash talk at a casino blackjack table. Porter was issued a summons on a misdemeanor battery charge after the Sunday altercation that began inside the Palms hotel-casino, Las Vegas police Officer Martin Wright said. "They went outside. In the valet area, one struck the other, causing a small laceration above the eye," Wright said Monday, calling the injury minor. Porter could face up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine, Wright said, but no court date was immediately available. Porter, 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, left the Pittsburgh Steelers after eight years and signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Dolphins earlier this month. Jones, 6-5 and 307 pounds, missed much of last season with a knee injury. "It seems they go against each other on the field, and here they take it into the public," Wright said. Wright cited an initial report from a Las Vegas police lieutenant who said the two players had a history of on-field trash talking with each other. The Steelers and Bengals both are in the AFC North, and play each other twice each season. Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said Porter, a three-time Pro Bowl pick, told him about the incident Monday morning. "We will monitor the situation and refrain from making any further comment until we gather more information," Cameron said in a statement issued by the Dolphins. Wright said a written police investigation and report won't be complete until at least the end of the week. The Bengals didn't have much to say about the latest incident involving one of their players. Over a nine-month period, nine Bengals have been arrested. "We have determined that he did not sustain any serious injuries," team spokesman Jack Brennan said of Jones. "Other than that, it's just not something that warrants any comment." How does Porter only get a fine and no suspension? I am all for Goodell cleaning up the off-field stuff, but where is the consistency? Jared Allen suspension reduced to 2 games for a second DUI Pacman suspended without being convicted Chris Henry getting 8 games Tank Johnson getting 8 games Vick not getting a suspension (for the foreseeable future) after indictment Porter not getting a suspension
I just had this conversaion with my buddy, Goodell is picking and choosing what is good for the leauge. Which I highly do not agree with, if Vick is not suspended cannot wait to see the protests at the games
I wonder if at first Goodell was just trying make a point out of the first few incidents that happened thinking the players would stop screwing around after seeing the punishments.
This happened before Goodall announced his new policy. This is really old news now. And who said Vick isn't getting suspended? That is just supposition at this point. The league hasn't decided anything yet. haha..only Joe Horn could be ignorant enough to put this spin on it.. "Horn, who signed with the Falcons as a free agent this offseason, also told the Journal-Constitution that suspending Vick and keeping him away from the team would not be good for the quarterback or the Falcons."
The wheels should be in motion already, much like pacman Jones, Goodell did not give Pacman innocent until proven guilty so why not take that stance with Vick. It was his precident to set
