Troy and one of the Gaffney/Caldwell combo will go. Rumor is Troy has already spoken to the team and has a lifetime job offer.
Between the 2 of them, they will be healthy for 8 games -tops. Kelly Washington stinks anyway. Welker, Stallworth, Washington, Caldwell.... Im not impressed or scared.
One thing's for sure, Belichick's putting his reputation on the line (insofar as a three-time champ can) this year - there will be no excuses if the Pats don't win the Superbowl.
I'm in a charitable mood. Tell me which Jets player is impliedly discussed in that article, and I'll move this thread back from the NFL Forum.
It is another one year deal like the Stallworth one. They have an option before they have to pay him most of his money. These numbers may or may not be accurate By Len Pasquarelli ESPN.com The deal can be for as many as five years, with a maximum value of $22 million, but is also structured so that it could be as short as just one season. Washington will receive a signing bonus of $300,000. As is the case with the six-year contract agreed to with New England by wide receiver Donte Stallworth on Sunday, the Patriots must pick up an option payment to retain the speedy Washington beyond the 2007 season. It is believed that payment is $4 million. "I am happy to be a part of such a great franchise, and to have the opportunity to help the Patriots get back and win another Super Bowl," Washington said. "The privilege to play with arguably one of the best quarterbacks of all time, Tom Brady, and to be coached by someone like Bill Belichick is a blessing. I am very excited about contributing to the New England Patriots."
Because Dion branch is making 6.5 million per year. Stallworth will make one million less per year if they decide to extend him for more then the peanuts he is making this year. When Branch left he wanted to tear up a current contract and make a new deal. Ob that cannot happen, so he left for more money. Would you resign Cotch if he decided he did not like his current contract and held out and refused to play unless you tore it up and re wrote it. makes a contract useless. They did not just let him "walk". He refused to meet them half way. It was his way or the highway. Stallworth has been injured less then Dion and played in more games. He has better stats and twice the td's. He is also bigger and faster. Stallworth = a bigger faster Dion for less money, and a extra first rounder.....
You know that Stallworth has missed less games then Deion Branch over his career right? They both have played in the same amount of total games. They got Stallworth for peanuts and have most all the power in the deal. The dude has missed 4 games in the last 44. A good situation does wonders for a sore hammy. Stallworth and Brady are going to be a very good combination. Washington was another smart pick up. It is another one year deal with no risk.
I said has the talent to be a top level guy. Yeah your right, gettng Stallworth for next to nothing and pairing him with Tom Brady has not chance to be a smart move. He has better numbers then Deion Branch without ever playing with Brady. He goes there for short money at no risk with the ABILITY to be a great wr... Makes no sense:lol: Both these deals are low risk 1 year deals. The Stallworth deal is a very nice pickup. The Washington deal is also a good move, considering it is only a one year deal like the Stallworth one. Obviously Brown will retire and Jackson cannot be depended on before mid season.
I am not going to sit here and agree with crazy posters who claim a one year deal at no risk for next to nothing to get Dante Stallworth is a bad one. It is laughable and sad really. One year deals in which the suitor team holds all the power over a players future are good ones. Add the fact it is for short money and for a great talent you might start to see my point on the delusions.
It isn't the point of whether or not you are right... it is the fact that you call yourself a Jets fan, but you act like people are soiling on your mother because they are trashing the Pats. I don't really care one way or the other myself, but I find it funny how passionately you are willing to argue for the Patriots. When someone yells "Tom Brady sucks!", I chuckle and laugh and say yeah, right. I know better, but I'm not going to defend the guys honor over it.
Big deal. Until this morning, I had never even heard of WR K. Washington.... I've said it before and I'll say it again, WR W. Welker will be T. Brady's favorite target in 2007 and beyond. These latest additions of Stallworth / Washington don't really do anything for me.... Sure, the Pats are going to be tough, but that's to be expected based on Belichick's coaching isn't it?? I don't see them as an unbeatable team by any means. Afterall, Miami's defense owns Brady, and with the addition of Porter, he's going to be in even more trouble when he faces the Phinz.... I respect the Patriots, but I'll never fear them....
