We swapped 2nd rd picks and got Thomas Jones. Thats a pretty damn good trade. So we dropped 25 spots and filled a need. Lets hope this deal works out.
Nice trade. Now we can focus on getting a CB, and a DT in the draft (or pass rusher). Anyone know the situation with Jones' contract?
Awesome, awesome trade now that this is confirmed. Iffy if just for the second, but getting their second back makes a lot of sense, and this is great news. Seriously, how could you not be happy with this?
Does anyone have a link for any info on this. I've been watching ESPN since I saw this trade but of course Clayton can't even mention it. Just wondering if there is any official news and where people heard about it in the first place.
This can't be serious. It's almost too good to be true. Someone just told me that we get their 2nd round pick next year, not this year. Either way, I'm loving it.
This makes no sense for the Bears front office! Give up your starting running back, and give up your 2nd rounder, for another 2nd rounder that's only a few picks away from your 1st round pick. Hey, I'm not complaining lol!
This also sets up to draft the RBOTF in next year's RB heavy draft if leon doesn't work out, while jones plays/mentors for the next few years.
great pick up for you guys. i wanted the Giants to get him, but atleast i can still watch him every week. you guys robbed the Bears on that trade though, another great move by Tangini
I was really kind of blah about this until I heard about the 2nd round pick. I bet they wanted to trade 31 for 25 but we talked them into this instead. I checked the draft value chart and we got Thomas Jones for the value of the 3rd pick of round 3. Not too shabby.
I went back to check the tivo and he said Jones and a 2nd rd pick for a 2nd rd pick- that sounds odd but I hope it's true.
I'm in Chicago, listening to top sports radio show on espn radio. They're killing the deal. The main guy says its a bad deal. Loving these guys crying about it!
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2788962 Sources: Bears to swap Jones for Jets draft pick ESPN.com news services According to league sources, the Bears have agreed to trade RB Thomas Jones and a 2007 second-round pick (No. 63 overall) to the Jets for a 2007 second-round pick -- No. 37 overall -- which was acquired previously in a trade from Washington, ESPN.com's Michael Smith reported. The Jets still have two picks in the second round -- No. 59 and now No. 63. The Jets and Jones' representative Drew Rosenhaus are believed to be working on a new contract with Jones, whose unhappiness with his Bears contract led to him skipping off-season workouts this past season.
