Wes Welker is like a young version of Troy Brown...good slot guy, KR, PR, does a bit of everything... More than anything else just real annoying to play against.
Desperate? They came a first down away from going to another Superbowl. Are you high? It means they are adjusting to the new higher salary cap. They also have 2 first round picks. They're loaded.
Yea and they came a lucky fumble, and a ridiculous amount of drops away from getting knocked out in the divisional round. And a quirky backward pass away from possibly being tied up in the wild card round. Why don't you think before you talk and call people high. Oh and let's see how loaded there are. QB- tom brady. one of the best there is. RB- can't say. Lost one head of the two headed monster. WR - don't get me started... OL - not bad. just look better than they are because brady moves well in the pocket. DL - Richard Seymour is injury prone and vince wilfork is so-so. LB: average age is 31. Let's see what happens to that linebacking core in two years from now. DB's - asante samuel will do one of two things: holdout and get traded, or have a fairly sub par year. a lot of those Int's were thrown right to him and this is his first good year of his career. He can definetely be a one hit wonder. S- Harrison is old and is well past his prime. And i dont even know who the other safety is. Point is, don't panic and shake in your boots when you look at the pats. They are beatable. And adalius' signing will improve there D-fense yes, but it won't make them the top D in the league. How long can this team hold up. I mean that Defense is very, very old and one year, they will get absolutely killed. The pats are too preoccupied with making runs now, instead of making a good team for years to come. And those two first round picks wont hold much value in a rather weak class especially regarding the pats needs. CB and S.
Interesting. This from the same prick who talked trashed prematurely about the Patriots going to the SB about 3 quarters too soon and dissapeared for months later... Come back to try to rub in something new? GPC!!!!
Sour you make some weird posts...Usually just some pessimistic stuff, which is fine, but this? You're disappointed that the Jets didn't give up a 2nd round pick and give a slot/KR $38 million over 7 years... Amazing. Had the Jets done this i'd be infuriated, EVERYONE would be.
Wes Welker is garbage, I watched him all season down here in florida. Did he return a kickoff or punt all season? I dont think so, most of this guys big plays were in garbage time. My best friend is a die hard Dolphins fan and he hates Welker.
How many kickoff and punt returns did he have last season? Someone find that out for me, I dont remember 1 all of last season.
Some of you guys need to learn a bit about contracts. The total amount a contract is worth means nothing. Especially in the case of a rfa. Welker is not going to get 38 million dollars. Are you guys kidding? There is a little thing called a poisen pill clause. You remember the Hutchinson contract? You can word a rfa's contract with options that would make it "worth" up to a certain amount. The only problem is the wording would never apply to the team courting the rfa ( the pats) only the team holding the agent. The pats are never going to have to pay a few of those big money options in the contract. If the Dolphins match (which they will not) they would pay out the ass. The only thing that matters is the garenteed money. Total worth and years mean absolutly nothing with a "poisen pill" backloading deal. Calling Welker garbage is laughable. He had 61 receptions and over 700 yards catching passes from Garbage qb's. Miami was a terrible place to play. Welker had 81 touches on kick returns. Look at what shefter has to say about him. Called him a "steal" . The guy is 25 and yet to catch passes from anything better the a mediocere qb. If you look at his stats he has also ran all over the patsies when they played. He has a Troy brown skill set. He is a very nice pick up for them, with Troy retiring. I hate the pats just as much as anyone, but know what you are looking at when you see a contract number. They will overpay for him, because of the market, but he will not get anywhere close to 38 million, lol. They also have 2 first round picks, they dont need a second round pick. 1 first rounder = 2 second rounders.
All of you Jet fans that are complaining that the Jets did didn't sign Welker, would be complaining if the Jets sign him for the same amount of money. (Even though the contract is extremely backloaded)
The kid had 68 receptions for over 700 yards in MIAMI. Catching passes from the "stud" Joey Harrington. I think the pats see enough of him to see potential. BB and Pioli arent exactly dumb. The kid is 25 and brings a Troy Brown skill set to the table. People actually think he is going to make 38 million bucks? He will never see anything close to that. The 38 mill is part of making it impossible for Miami to match the deal. The only people who would be paying 38 mill are the Dolphins if they match the deal. The only thing that matters is guaranteed money. Especially with a backloaded "pill" deal.
Yeah yeah yeah I am well aware of restructuring and backloaded contracts. Welker is in no shape or form worth a 2nd. round pick and all that money. It was a weird decision by a front office that is usually fiscally responsible. Welker may have had a ton of catches. He also has a ton of drops and has the yips when he gets hit. At least that is what the dolfans and the radio idiots complain about down here. He and R. McMichael might have had 50-60 drops between them. Plasticsloth, You are arguing with a complete troll do not even bother it is not worth your time to make sense. Put him on ignore you will be better off.
First off, we are not arguing. Secondly you do not like the truth. One of the pats first round picks = 2 second round picks. In a draft where the second round guys are projected to carry the same level of talent as the first rounders (at the bottom half of the draft board) this is not a bad move for the evil bastards. I am speaking of wr's. the draft is loaded with them. Rice will go in the second round. You know who wants Rice? I was stating that while the patsies will overpay, the people who think he is going to get 38 mill, or anything close to that are insane. I am a unbiased jets fan, you would block me for stating some facts? Sorry if I came off to be a troll. I edited the "exactly" part out as I read the original post wrong. Btw, no one knows how much money this deal is worth. You are going on complete speculation. Until we see the deal we have no idea what it is worth.
They are not facts they are your opinion. I gave a counter point to your opinion. If this draft is so loaded with WR talent why give a big contract and a high level pick for a small slot receiver that drops a lot of passes. "I am a unbiased jets fan, you would block me for stating some facts?" Edit................. Please read my post. I did not call you a troll it was another horrid poster that I have on ignore. (Zoostation)
The pats are not looking at him in the light you are. They are looking for a guy to replace Troy Brown. Coming off the fiasco they had with jackson, using a second round pick on a guy they have seen play for two years is not a bad move when you have two first round picks. Again , they can turn 1 first rounder into 2 second rounders. If they can get there targeted recievers in the second round with one of the two first round picks you answered your own question. If they did not have two first round pics you would have a point. But if you can turn 1 of the two first round pics into 2 second rounders and get the guys you want, it is not illogical from that standpoint. Rookies can or cannot work out. This guy has a record they apparently like.
Well obviously they liked him somewhat, they signed him. I completely disagree he is worth this much. If this was last year or the year before no way in hell he gets this much money. I have watched some games down here and he drops a lot of balls. I do not think he is that much of an upgrade over the other guys they have, if at all. You feel he is, it is fine, I can agree to disagree with you. later.
I see your point. I am sorry if I offended you. They have not signed him yet. They placed a backloaded offer on the table for him. We have no idea what kind of money he is looking at ( for real) a year and dollar amount mean nothing. The guaranteed money is what matters. When you have a draft where you can get the guys you want in the second round, 28 mill in cap space, and one of two first round pics you can turn into 2 second round pics, using the extra second round pic on a guy (they think) is a good player is less ricky then picking up a rookie to do the same jobs. Brown is 37 years old. Bill aka the devil is pretty good at evaluating talent imo. Not to mention they play against the guy all the time. I believe they will draft for Sidney Rice as well as Gonzalez, In the second round. Which still leaves them with a first round pick. Just looking at it from there perspective. Hopefully they are wrong.
