tank will be our first round pick for a few reasons: 1. 3-4 defenses start with a strong, wide nt and with tank's size, he is exactly that. 42 bench reps at the combine show u how strong he really is 2. He will never make it past the browns 2nd round pick. the browns also run the 3-4 and have overpaid old guys like 38 year old big ted washington because nose tackles for the 3-4 or hard to come by 3. Our top d-end prospects like carriker and top cornerback prospects will be gone making the pick of tyler more justifiable. the guy is strong enough and can allow a d-rob transition to d-end.
Why Tank Tyler will never come within a mile of Weeb Ewbank Hall: 1. He spit on an opponent during a game against Southern Mississippi in September. 2. He allegedly assaulted a police officer after he was cited for drunk and disorderly conduct in July. 3. His work ethic is spotty at best--he plays when he feels like it. It's too bad, really...Tyler has all the tools to be a solid NT, but his attitude is just awful.
I don't agree. I'm not drafting a guy based on his bench press. His size is not a remedy for us. Maybe he's make a decent end. I think they're going to accept the talent that's there, draft Branch if he falls and they like him, or take a guy who can play a better end than Von Old-hoffen. -X-
someone asked Todd McShay about this very thing - tyler as NT for the Jets - in his last chat, he shot the idea down. Said tank was a gap shoooter and despite his strength and size was not a NT type
CB is stacked in this draft. we can easily have revis, ross, hall, houston. depending on how much theyre liked by the teams in front of us questionable motor isnt something you like to have on a NT's scouting report. let alone the guys built like d-rob so whats the difference? he can bench more?
About the Browns: They drafted a good NT prospect last year I think. Long last name, starts with an O, from Stanford. I remember he was a guy alot of Jets fans were looking at as a NT prospect for us.
i havent seen what his weight was at the combine, but various websites have him ranging from 305 to 328 which is a big difference i wouldnt mind him being our 2nd round pick...considering i dont think anyone would reach for him early
He weighed in at the senior bowl at 323 http://nflexperts.scout.com/2/611924.html I wouldn't take him in the first but if he interviews well & Mangini feels he is coachable I would definetly consider him with one of our seconds.
Now there is a GOOD reason why we may not be drafting him-- everyone knows about his issues that we may or may not be scared of- but if he doesn't fit, he doesn't fit.
You just can't say that. You really can't. He may be, but I think it's 50/50 and will depend on what is available, a NT or a DE.
