Of all the players to gush over, how in the world do we fixate on an injured player with a penchant for costumes and slurred speech? I would support the Turner move rather then Portis move any day of the week. (If that?s the direction we are going). Keep the backs we have, don?t risk the time and money!
Stats are all great, but can be misleading... and yes, I admit he has only missed the majority of one season, but has Washington gotten better by adding him when they did... no, not really. He has put up big numbers on terrible team. I like Portis, think he is a quality back. He's also a me guy. He's gotten hurt often lately even in his 1500 yard season he was banged up. His production falter towards the end of the year. But no one wants to look at that... they just want to regurgitate stats to prove a point (point being they are a stat rate... but thats neither here nor there) But this trade still makes no sense... The reality is that no team is going to give up the starting RB and first round pick (a top ten at that), for a LB and our first round pick (26 - if I remember). It's a totally lopsided deal. It's a Madden deal. But... we shall see. You can tell me so I suppose, but it won't make a much of difference. Ellis
TRADE : 'skins & jets swappin' 1st round picks ? ? ? hey guys, i just received an e-mail from a buddy tellin' me that there is a radio sports talk show in the washington,dc area talkin' about a report that the 'skins & jets are discussing a trade. one element of the trade consists of the 'skins & jets swappin' 1st round picks in THIS year's draft. anyone else hear anything about this ? ?
This is like the millionth Vilma to Redskins for a RB and their first thread in the past week. It's been beaten to death and this could have been in any other other two threads on the front page.
yes, and there was different management at the time. Either way, multiple topics on the same subject aren't necessary.
if - IF we trade up to the #6 spot in the 1st round of this year's draft ; i think we will then trade down in the 1st round in order to pick up more draft picks .
If we trade up in the first round; then trade down in order to pick up more picks; I think we will use those picks to trade up again.
I'd definitely put Steven Jackson ahead of Clinton Portis if we're talking about the top 3 RB's in the NFL. Jackson is younger, bigger, stronger, less injury prone(so far), and had 90 catches in addition to 1,500+ yds rushing last year. Portis would probably be in the mix behind these 3 guys along with Frank Gore, Willie Parker, and Westbrook. And he did play in a system in Denver that every RB flourishes in. And the Redskins are a run heavy offense. If Vilma ever gets some big hogs on the D Line, he'll probably be a Pro Bowler again.
