We are looking for a RT so why not this guy!!! I know we are trying to get young talent but he has 8 years experience and has been the Giants front wall for a long time. If we want somebody with immediate impact we should go after him he would add get veteran leadership to our line. Plus boost our running game tremendously. so let me know what you all think.......

Is there going to be a "Player X Anybody?" thread for every crappy free agent that gets dumped?

  4. Petigout is not the dominant takcle you make him out to be. For one he is extremely inconsistent, secondly he is injury prone, and third, he would be much of an upgrade in terms of run blocking..which is really what we're looking for on the right side of the line.

    I say no to Petigout.

Its hard to know what the coaching staff see in players like Clemment ,B Moore,T Teague(Back from injury). Would they look at Luke as an Upgrade to any of these players or would he be added for depth. The price tag would be low and He's not over the hill. Did he end his season with an Injury?

Let's compare the numbers of the two for the past 4 years.

Petitgout played in 50 games amassed 42 penalties and gave up 24.5 sacks.
Clement played in 62 games amassed 19 penalties and gave up 18.5 sacks.

To take this a step further. The Jets had their highest rushing percentage when running to the right this year. Granted, we were predominantly a middle rushing team but the average is still highest going to the right. If you were to compare the numbers of Ferguson to Clement straight up this year, you could make the argument that Brick should be the one upgraded.

Clement had 2 penalties and gave up 7.5 sacks in 06, and the team rushed for a 4.2 yard average when running right. D'Brick also had 2 penalties but gave up 10 sacks and the team only had a 3.6 yard average when running to the left. Now before anyone goes nuts, I'm not saying get rid of Brick, he has a lot of upside but definitely needs to play better this coming year. In addition, Clement statistically had one of his worst years yet, and it wasn't that bad. Has he hit the wall, or will he rebound? Can we do better? Absolutely, but he was not the root of all of our rushing problems this year. Looking at the numbers the Jets by a wide margin ran most of the time right up the middle. Unfortunately, the guard play was not good. Mostly Moore, but also Kendall had difficult times making lanes for any real running attack. IMO, those are the most important areas to sure up on the line before RT. I would love to bring a young guy in to push Clement, but I would resign him as a valuable veteran presence. Bigger and stronger guards are what I would be looking for.....

Great analysis. I always wondered why we so heavily favored running up the middle. Especially with Leon's speed, he can definately turn the corner.

You know the saying "A lineman not heard of is a good lineman", and therefore i like Clement...

Anyway he's one hell of an upgrade compared to Jason "give up on plays" Fabini.

    " False Start # 77 Offense"

Lets take a guess on who the next player cut to become a thread will be.

Bob Whitfield and Tiki Barber, maybe we can start a thread about them too we can lure them out of retirement.

By the way Baamf, nice breakdown.

This is your 1st offseason. Expect countless amounts of threads on a player, don't forget their will be doubles and triples of threads on the same player.

    Enjoy:grin:

Bob Whitfield, the head-butter? That's downright funny!

But seriously, it so typifies the NY Giants. These guys were so "disciplined" they were undisciplined. So "No Thanks" to any recent Giants.

perfect post. Brick cant run block, gets handled at the point of attack. is a good drop back pass protector though. kendall is solid but hes almost done. mangold is great. moore is avg. nothing horrendous but nobody to talk about. clement is good enough to keep whether he starts or not. but i do like running off tackle on him.

we need to address two OL picks in this draft. either two G's or a G and a RT. i'm hoping maybe we just draft Blalock who can play G/RT. and nab another bonafide guard.

we need another rusher on the team but everyone clamoring for a RB needs to realize our overall run blocking as a unit is pretty poor.

Don't worry about D-Brick, its hard for him to be a road grader when he's 6-6 and playing at less then 290 pounds, once he gets his weight up over 310 for the season he will be better............
