That's awesome. Not one Jet there... How about Cory Reading for a 3-4 DE? I'm sure he'll be resigned though. He's become a star for the Lions.
Drew Bennett would be a nice edition for a big possesion receiver that were lacking 6'5" and maybe trade J-Mac
A few people are going to hit the jackpot there and a few are going to be franchised. I doubt the Jets will pay for the top-tier other than Clements, or Samuel if Belichik inexplicably fails to franchise him. I think we'll see the Jets jump in after the first wave looking at who is available in the second tier and then we'll see them again in June bargain-hunting among the wretched who failed to find suitable contracts in the spring.
Lance Briggs. He's the prize if the Bears do not franchise him. He'll get money in the 40 million range pretty easily. Not Lavar Arrington money, but close enough.
Your right, the best looking thing about that list is that there are not any Jets. Our core players are signed and hopefully we can sign the rest of them (Cotchery and Rhodes) so they won't be on that list next year.
Anyone think Rhodes might warrant an offer from the Jets? I think he would be a good tandem with Leon.
One thing that rarely works in the NFL is signing guys to big contracts that are right around 30. Teams do that time and time again especially the Redskins and now even the Giants and they never pan out. Look at the Giants with Carlos Emmons, Will Demps etc.
Here's the list of Free Agents the Jets should look at IMO: Leonard Davis OT 6-6 365 Unrestricted Arizona Justin Gage WR 6-4 212 Unrestricted Chicago Eric Steinbach G 6-6 290 Unrestricted Cincinnati Marc Colombo OT 6-8 320 Unrestricted Dallas Cory Redding DT/DE 6-4 290 Unrestricted Detroit Antwan Peek DE 6-3 250 Unrestricted Houston Asante Samuel CB 5-10 185 Unrestricted New England Terdell Sands NT 6-7 340 Unrestricted Oakland (Was not mentioned) Charles Grant DE 6-3 290 Unrestricted New Orleans Kris Dielman G 6-4 310 Unrestricted San Diego Rien Long DT 6-6 300 Unrestricted Tennessee Eh, I like Houston and Washington if we can get a nice RT/RG.
Chris Kelsay, Cory Redding, Randy Starks, Rien Long.....guys on the less expensive side who can help the DL (did Terdell Sands get re-signed, or just not qualify for SN's top 100?) Eric Steinbach would be a nice addition, but Andre Gurode would be more economic (or Dielman in a trade, but then you're trading and paying); Antwan Peek for depth at OLB; Daniel Graham at TE..... thanks for posting the list.
Some of these guys would be fantastic...O-line, but I'm thinking defense. Who runs a 3-4 besides us, NE, Pitt, and Cleveland? Is the DT who's an UFA in Cleveland worth a look if D-Rob moves to DE?
