Just read this article about who is a lock for the HOF and who still has work to do: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-futurehall020207&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Jackass claims Curtis Martin isn't a lock. I know I'm a jaded Jets fan so I'm a bit biased, but I firmly believe Curtis deserves first ballot.
What work does he have to do. CMart is the 4th leading rusher of all time. this alone should guarantee his place in Canton. If winning a superbowl was required then there are a lot of great players who would not be elligible.
lol anyone who thinks he isnt a lock is insane i dont know if this was before or after the season started but here. theres plenty of HOF under his name. Monk retired as the NFL all time leader in receptions so to say he doesn't deseve neither does C-Mart. What will C-mart retire as the NFL all time leader at? They both should get in. Plus we both know he a classy guy. So why shouldn't Monk be in the HOF?
Monk derserves the HOF big time...im not sure how you could think otherwise. Top notch reciever that won three Superbowls with three different QB's each time.
That was all based on longevity. monk was only top 5 in recs 3 times in 16 years and top 10 4 times and once was #1 in recs. monk was only top 5 in rec yards 2 times and top 10 3 times. Monk was only top 10 in rec TDs ONCE and he was 9th. Curtis has been top 5 in rushing 4 times in 11 years not 16 including a rushing title and two 2nd plaec finishes, he has been top 10 7 times. 3 times he has been top 5 in rush Tds, 6 times he has been top 10 in rush TDs. 4 times he has been top 5 in yds from scrimmage and 8 times top 10. 4 times he has been top 10 in rush/rec TDs. Curtis is a lock, Art is not a HOFer.
In 4 Super Bowls do you know what he did? 9 recs, 179 yds, 0 TDs. he had ONE good SB and that was XXVI where he had 7 recs for 113 yds. His 1st SB(XVII) he had no catches, his next 2 he had a total of 2 recs. he wasn't even the best receiver on his own team, he was a good player- a complier but NOT a HOFer.
I'm not sure what the beef is with what this guy wrote. Curtis Martin, RB, New York Jets:. One of the top four rushers ever, but he never won a Super Bowl and wasn't the "dominant" back of his time. He'll likely get in with 17,430 yards from scrimmage and 100 total touchdowns, but it's going to be a tougher go than people think. Curtis never received the notoriety that he deserved. The writer states he will likely get in but it won't be as easy as many of us believe. I agree, he will suffer because he was never the loud mouthed super star that graced the screen of Sports Center. He quietly did his job, had some very good years and was also a compiler. Some voters will not be so familiar with his body of work as we loyal fans are....
14 yards in the AFC Championship game and a fumble provides ammunition for the naysayers. Martin's playoff performances have been less than legendary, same as Monk. The difference is, Monk's teams won the championship. 1996 pit W,28-3 | 19 166 3 | 2 9 0 1996 jax W,20-6 | 19 59 1 | 3 18 0 1996 gnb L,21-35 | 11 42 1 | 3 28 0 1998 jax W,34-24 | 36 124 2 | 6 58 0 1998 den L,10-23 | 13 14 1 | 4 39 0 2001 oak L,24-38 | 16 106 0 | 6 34 0 2002 ind W,41-0 | 15 67 0 | 2 12 0 2002 oak L,10-30 | 16 74 0 | 3 31 0 2004 sdg W,20-17 | 18 64 0 | 4 47 0 2004 pit L,17-20 | 19 77 0 | 4 29 0 ---------------------+-----------------+----------------- TOTAL | 182 793 8 | 37 305 0
All longevity proves he could stay healthy enough to last that lon C-mart couldn't. Plus he got 3 rings and C-mart has none. IMO I think it's dumb to consider how many rings a man has because it's a team sport and the HOF isn't about the team but they do.
