I'm pretty sure he is a Free Agent coming into the off-season. Just hypothetically saying, the Colts don't resign Rhodes.

Do you think the Jets should try and get him? He truly proved tonight, in the Super Bowl, that he is a good RB. It was his first 100 Yard Game since 2001, and he had a TD to boot. He is a major reason why the Colts won tonight.

So, how do you feel about D. Rhodes? Personally, I wouldn't mind Rhodes. We wouldn't have to give up a Draft Pick for him, so we would still have the 1st Rounder that we may have had to give up for Turner, or if we were to draft a RB. He would cost some $, but I wouldn't expect a lot.

However, assuming he is a Free Agent, I think the Colts are going to re-sign him. But it's always good to think about these things in case they may happen.

He had one good game in about 5 years. So according to you that makes a player good?

Addai is their future in Indy. That's clear. After that big time performance by Rhodes however, I wouldn't be surprised if he opted to find a team that would give him a better chance to be the feature back...

He's always been pretty good when given the chance. It's just that this was his first 100 yard game since.

Think about it. From 2002-2005, Edgerrin James played ahead of him. Now he splits carries with Addai. It's tough to have a 100 yard game given those circumstances.

Derrick Blaylock was a backup and every time he got a chance he was very good. But sometimes backups arent always capable of handling the load and obviously Rhodes is like that.

He has been nothing more than a career backup or platoon player. What makes anyone think that when he gets here he will all of a sudden drastically improve behind a line that can not run block ?

Is Indy's offensive line that great? Their starting guards are Jake Scott and Ryan Lilja.

Rhodes could certainly end up being a very good starting RB or just a Derrick Blaylock, but we need a nice upgrade at RG/RT first. Then we can talk RB whether it be Turner, Rhodes etc...

But if we do get those couple upgrades, I'd be VERY satisfied with Washington/Houston.

I see Rhodes as an average RB with smarts who knows the Colts offense pretty well. He is above average at picking up blitzes when called upon. I really don't see him as a guy that can take over a game as a RB or force teams to plan against. His success running the ball seemed to be a result these things to me.

    1) Defenses have to respect the passing game. If they leave anything undefended, Manning will take advantage of it.

    2) Mannings ability to read defenses and audible into the optimal play benefit the RB a lot. It doesn't matter who the RB is if the defense is sold on pass and Manning changes to run before they can adjust.

    3) The Colts O-line is very, very good and has been for a while.

Rhodes was outplayed by a rookie this year. I think Leon Washington would have outplayed him too in that system. I think he's a gamer and wouldn't mind his personality on our team, but don't think he's a top tier RB by any means.

Give me a smashmouth downhill runner that will punish d-linemen and lb's.

They said during the game that Rhodes preferred to come off the bench with Addai like he did with the Edge which is a reason not to sign him. The fact that this was his first 100 yd game since 2001 should be a red alart, he is also probably getting to the age where rb's start to break down. Again someone on this board wants to sign a player because of one performance.

    (Looking way into the future)

i wouldnt mind picking up an average at best rb this offseason for one reason. 08 RB CLASS. if some, some of the juniors declare its gonna be one of the best rb classes in a while.

some of the names for next year. i wouldnt mind letting the o'line gel in time for one of these studs. getting someone like rhodes could help the line out some.

    Stewart in 08!

Somebody out there will pay huge $$ for Rhodes to be an everydown back, he will never get the money he could get elsewhere just to come here and platoon. I wouldn't mind seeing him in green, carrying 20 times a game, but it ain't gonna happen.

Yeah, he has always been average at best, can show up when asked, just don't ask too much..still think he would be an upgrade over houston/barlow...wouldn't mind concentrating on line again this year and he'd justify that...but he probably just scored himself a major payday tonite and put himself out of our range.

    I'm sorry...what?

Agreed with the idea that Rhodes is a very good backup RB. But he's a lesser version of what I think Leon will/can be.

Super Bowl performance was great, but one things NFL fans tend to overrate is the one big game big game performance.

He'd probably fit well into a RBBC. He catches the ball okay, blocks adequately and can actually carry a load from time to time if called on to do it. I don't think he would be a very good feature back for the Jets.

I'm sorry, where did I imply that?

I'm saying a player with Dominic's value should not suddenly jumpbecause he has a super bowl ring. Trent Dilfer has a Super Bowl ring, does that make him the guy you want starting for your NFL team?

Rhodes was running through holes the size of Texas tonight, the Colts line absolutely dominated the Bears front. He had a great game in the Super Bowl. Great for him. Does that make him a potential legit franchise back? Nope.

His upside is still far less than Leon's, though I like him better than Barlow or Huston.

If we pick him up he will be the second coming of Kevin Barlow

Draft Lynch if possible, or maybe make a sensible shot at Turner, but please stay away from these underproved veterens, u said it yourself, he had his first 100 yard game last night since 2001!

Lastly i think its a little crazy/rediculous to say that the lesser RB in their system was the reason the colts won by a 10 point margin just because he scored a touchdown that probably could have been scored just as easily by Addai

Let's not get carried away with his SB performance..... Remember Timmy Smith? Ran for 200+ yards in the SB with the Redskins and faded into oblivion (Or Bolivian for you Mike Tyson fans!)
