I have been reading too many memory loss/head injury affects in this forum, I hope Chrebet got out at the right time and will be able to heal. http://www.northjersey.com/page.php...lRUV5eTcwNjkzODImeXJpcnk3ZjcxN2Y3dnFlZUVFeXk2
He needs to open a few of those restaurants/lounges in FLA so we can watch the Green and White every Sunday in Style.
This is not good. After reading the stories about Ted Washington and Andre Waters, I am very worried about Wayne. Hopefully something can be done for him
Head injuries are nothing to play around with. Chrebet had, what, 6 concussions. He said he takes all the responsiblility for any future damage those injuries might cause, but you can't help to feel bad.
http://www.chrebets.com/chrebets.htm Check out his restaurant's site. He was the best Jet of all time and it will be tough to see the team the same way without him. There never has been and never will be another Wayne Chrebet.
Well there are a ton of Concussion stories making the rounds lately. I made a thread about L. Coles after the Z. Thomas hit. I still say there is a vast difference between a body injury and a head injury. It is amazing to me that players with head injuries are just rubber stamped and allowed to play. This is not a pussy thing either. If someone like a team Dr stepped in and said," Wayne can not play this week" he may still be around and actually playing under Mangini. My worry is the same thing happened to Coles. Anyway with a concussion the more you have in succession the easier they are to get. I bolded the above just so everyone knows I am making a distinction between the two (head and body injuries). I believe the player should/could have much leeway with one but not the other.
It was more than a pleasure watching for all those years, but I kind of wished he got out a little sooner.
I know I will most likely get flamed because I wont word this right, but I want to point out I too feel bad for Byrd, Toon, Chrebet, etc. They provided years of entertainment, and now face a life of hardship. OK, here's my other point: Walter Reed just opened to provide care and rehab for our men and woman returning from Iraq that have had body parts blown away. They have 600 kids in there right now, most with no legs, arms, faces, hips, and so on. So when we talk about lingering football injuries (and we should!!!), just keep in mind the huge number of other kids who also gave a lot for us. I know none of us needed to read this to appreciate our troops, but the topic of life long injuries sustained while doing battle is not limited to football. OK. Off the soap box!
Wayne actually comes to the restaurant I work at in central jersey all the time..I've seen him there three times already
Sure I can, he wasn't drafted, and nobody but the Jets gave him a chance. He made everything he has from hard work and determination. Nothing was handed to Wayne, nothing.
This just makes me so sad. The fact that his symptoms at times are getting worse doesn't bode well. Fucking chargers!! I was at the game and I felt like i was going to throw up.
