I know this is silly, but at first blush, as I come across a thread that starts with Fields, Fields, Fields, I get the shakes and panic before I get the strength to read the rest. LOL.
I really like him too man. I love the bit of shake he has at the top of his break to get that extra bit of separation.
I don't think there is anything I could possibly care about less when evaluating an NFL player as their arm length. Reggie White had short arms and the guy was arguably the best defensive lineman of all time.
Historical Context: Bain's measurement is among the shortest for an edge rusher in recent combine history. NFL.com Reggie White had 33 inch arms
Bain's arms were measured at 30.75" at the combine. "there are no defensive linemen listed as DE or EDGE at the Combine since 2011 with sub–31-inch arms who have ever recorded a sack within their first three NFL seasons." The Curious Case of Rueben Bain Jr.'s Arm Length -- I am rooting for him though, I love his passion on the field!! Honestly maybe he should just bulk up a little and play inside? A smaller DT type for his future? Like Ed Oliver in Buffalo? Idk, edge doesnt seem promising with his arms...
I'm just going to say this one final time and then let it go. If I hear ONE MORE "thing" about 2 or 3 inches, when it comes to arm length, I'm going to hit the fucking wall. This isn't some guy playing WR and smoking everyone. He's not some super fast RB that is outclassing everyone. Hell, he's not even a QB that can mitigate a lot of shit for a lot of different positions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This dude has been going mano a mano with the best o-linemen in college and whuppin' their tails. So you mean to TELL ME the same men he's beating the hell out of now are somehow going to figure out how to stop him, at the next level, by virtue of his arm length? I call BULLSHIT on all who keep throwing out arm length. Kiss my ass with that talk. This, right here, is about as close to the CLASSIC combine bullshit overriding a player's ON FIELD production against the EXACT SAME people he's going to see in the NFL. I'm sorry, I played football and I NEVER heard some coach throw out there, "hey, that dude's arm length is 2 inches short, you can take him!" Never once. I'll bet Indianapolis could "unsee" Anthony Richardson's combine... You can take that to the bank.
