Well I don’t know how many here are Lord of the Rings fans, but if you are… I’d quote Eomer when he says: “Do not trust to hope…it has forsaken these lands”
They've made some good moves this offseason but to me it feels strange. I don't know if these guys (the coaches) are going to be here or for how much longer. Sean McDremott is out there, Mike Tomlin is out there. I'd rather have Coach McDermott. Heck I don't even know if the QB they select in round 1 or round 2 in this upcoming draft will be the guy. If they end up in position to draft Arch in the 2027 NFL Draft they're taking him. To me it feels as if there's a lot of uncertainty around the team right now.
“But in the end it's only a passing thing, this shadow; even darkness must pass.” Sam 14 years and counting
Yah for sure…starting with first and foremost the coach…if he sucks again (which is likely given how bad he was last year and the strength of schedule for this year), it’d be hard to keep him, especially with both Tomlin and McDermott, both way more accomplished, out there, let alone who else may shake free. It for sure is another “rebuilding year” … the only thing that feels a bit steadier is that it seems like Mougey is doing well enough to start hoping he can be a good GM…but on the field? We may be better than last year (would sure be hard to do much worse) but it does not look like we’ll be any good.
60 is on my horizon! If this team was like "normal" teams, they SHOULD be getting good when I hit the big "6-0." Unfortunately, the Jets have never followed any form of normal modus operandi so I don't hold out much hope.
The mannings will never allow him to play a down for the jets. I’d start thinking as if Arch is not an option.
Unfortunately, you are correct about that. There is ZERO scenario where Arch Manning ends up on the Jets. Some here may not want to hear that, accept it or think we're blowing smoke but that family wields a disgusting amount of power. Trust me, if the Manning family doesn't want their family member somewhere, that family member won't be there or available. Very few things in this world you can write down as "gospel" and that's one of them.
There's still the draft and then waiver-wire pickups etc. to fix those problems. And I think it's totally reasonable to go into the season with a few weaknesses of this sort and resolve them. (Note: I said "of this sort". Not at the QB position. Definitely not that position. They need Geno to stick, and I think they also need to draft Ty Simpson at 16).
Good lord, no to Simpson, a better QB class in 27 would be wasted if we took a project QB this year, I'd rather wait until next season and claim one then. If he were to free-fall like Sanders, then I would take him in the 4th but in a QB class of 1 somebody will reach for him, hopefully not the Jets.
