I have read enough about jets "fans" hoping for a tank in 2026 to get Glenn fired, or maybe a shot at Arch Manning in 2027, or possibly the team being sold (not happening).. For whatever it is worth, I'm rooting like hell that the jets are competitive in 2026. No, I don't expect the Super Bowl, but I think w a good draft and some signings/changes the jets can compete for the playoffs in 2026. I think Moog is a better GM than Douglas, Idzik, or McCagnan. He likely won't waste first round picks on the likes of Zack Wilson, Will McDonald, Micah Becton, etc. It makes no sense to follow a team and hope for another losing season so that in the fall of 2027 they might show some improvement. (????). Starting tomorrow, I hope the jets tag Breece Hall, have some great signings, and draft some good players. Is Arch Manning really the savior he is hyped to be? The hell w 2027, let's get behind our team for 2026! And, yes, I have followed the jets since 1969, and haven't forgot the Kotite years.

im always hoping for them to be a competitive team. there have been times when i just wanted to see certain guys go no matter how bad it had to be. but for the most part lets hope for a good off season, that can build into a decent team in the next couple years. oh and arch manning sucks.

I don't think there were too many people who recently posted about actually hoping for the whole season 2026 tank at this time. In October though it may be a very different story! :)

I agree. Not so many on this board who want a full 2026 tank (a few) , but I have read that often by other jet "fans" on the internet. But, I really think the jets have upgraded their coaching staff, and have a great chance for improvement thru the next draft. But they can't waste the high picks like Douglas did.

A friend of mine and I were discussing the upcoming season the other day and I said, "You know it's really bad when hoping for mediocrity feels like a good thing. .500, woo! Then again, since its been a shitty, unnecessary 17 game season, there is no .500 for the Jets. Typical." o_O

Look at it this way. 3-14 it's kind of like the old 3-13 . . . but it's really not. It's worse.

The season is usually over by Yom Kippur. I'm going with Rosh Hashanah this year personally.

I like your optimism, but I think when it comes to the Jets most especially it all depends on how you come hardwired out of the womb.

I feel downright nostalgic and misty-eyed over the halcyon days of The Lord (Chad Pennington) and the promise it held. Holy Smokes, what could have been. It's so depressing.

I haven't felt that way since. Don't be confused. I've been depressed ever since. I've never felt as hopeful is what I meant. That includes the Brett Pevre experiment that I was initially delusional about, and certainly not when Aaron Rodgers came here. Did he get hit by a bus yet?

Hope for the best and expect the worst! Seen it all... when they win, I'll be more optimistic otherwise, my alais fits.

Anybody rooting for a tank before the season starts likes the draft more than football.

Also most of them probably never played competitive sports. There is such a lack of understanding about how playing sports competitively works in that concept.

I think most of us want to see a competitive season. Our draft picks could really start contributing quick and that would lift us up. If not we wont have to tank the year. It will happen naturally.

I don't want to try and go "win now" this season to save a coaches job either.

I think we all realize that Glenn underestimated the reality of being a CEO HC. That was reflected by his being frankly lazy in his original staff hires. It does seem now that Glenn is only bringing in former assistants that have actually done the job before. Something I've been hoping for going on several years now. That being said, I think we're gonna see a rebuild however, this time with a solid foundation and plan. To that end, the QB selection will be crucial as with any luck, it will be Reich and the QBC making the recommendations to Mougey bypassing Glenn who won't have any veto over the choice except the preverbal rubber stamp. We might see improvement overall in the quality of the team's performance this year. I can live with that.

Agreed, and hopefully Glenn has learned who from the Douglas drafts is any good and where they should play. If Glenn puts scarecrows McDonald back at DE and Sherwood back at MLB to get totally manhandled AGAIN by NFL offensive linemen, then he gets what he deserves. Hopefully the jets will significantly beef up the front 7, which is one reason I like Bain over Reese at 2 if the jets stay there.

Look of course I want the Jets to be competitive, that is the nature of sports. You want to see your players play hard, love the game and most of all get wins!

The issue is when you see how bad the play calling is, how bad the lack of leadership is, how inept ownership is, how bad we are at key positions, it’s pretty hard not to look ahead.

Glenn and Moug have an enormous mountain to climb to get this team to be competitive this year. With a soft quarterback draft class, an entirely new CS and huge gaping holes at QB, DT, LB, S, CB, G, WR, RB if they don’t resign/tag Hall. Let’s be honest it all starts with the quarterback, it’s the marquee position in all of sports in my opinion. Without that a dream of being competitive is just that, a dream.

It will be interesting to see how they manoeuvre to fill these spots. With the amount of cap space and 4 picks in the top 45 it’s possible they can make a push to be competitive BUT as a realist they would need to make ZERO mistakes in the draft and ZERO mistakes in free agency. They basically need to be perfect this offseason. I hope this is the case!! However, I have my doubts.

I just have no hope. None. Like Zero hope.

And to be honest, I don’t think that would change even if we had 4 first round picks this year. It wouldn’t matter.

We get the second pick in a one QB draft, because Jets.

Sometimes the 2nd pick is Jayden Daniels or CJ Stroud, but if the Jets have the 2nd pick, then it’s literally NOBODY at QB…and if it is, then it’s Zach Wilson.

It’s not enough that we have one of the worst owners in all of sports who is clueless, it’s not enough that we consistently hire terrible GMs and terrible HCs because said owner is clueless…but we have NO luck on top of the suck.

So honestly the draft picks which would normally have me so pumped up and optimistic, this year, they give me zero hope. There is no QB we can draft that will make us competitive. There is no QB in free agency that will make us competitive. That leaves trade, and there are no realistic trade options either…and fuck to the hell NO to either Cousins or Murray…either of those guy would probably throw me into “I hate this team and hope they lose every game” mode…I do NOT want to have to cheer those turds on. I won’t do it.

So here we are before even free agency and draft, and we can all pretty much already see that next year is going to suck…maybe a bit better than this year, but maybe not, we’ll see. But it will suck.

Such a shit state of mind to be in as we get older and keep wasting years because the shit owner doesn’t know what he’s doing.

I don’t know…these last couple of years, but especially this last one, have really just taken the last shred of positivity from me…I can’t overstate how much I hate Woody Johnson.

I figure I'll just add that I have NOTHING positive to say about this team or the organization. I'll leave it at that and the ONLY way I change my mind is wins. Wins will fix it all. The one thing that has eluded this forsaken franchise for so long.

Isn't it absolutely MIND BLOWING they've been this bad for so long yet almost no 1st overall picks.
