Wink isn’t not good. He’s just not the best option. You want a young up and comer who can grow on the job and evolve. That’s not Wink. What he brings will work but it’s not a longterm solution and it’s not even the best short term solution.
Who else is coming in for second interview? That is the question? Some are restricted till the playoffs are over. Hope is not a done deal yet, but we knew he would get a second interview.
It sounds like he's the guy from the beat writers, not to mention firing all those guys yesterday and him coming today is a pretty glaring indication.
it will work in the short term. Even with the Giants defense being ranked horribly in points and yards they were number one in turnovers and got pressure constantly. Honestly when you have guys like Will McDonald and Jermaine Johnson while adding one of Reese or Bain, the weird looking formations Wink uses is kind of a good fit. You just know that it has its limitations.
Forgive my ignorance on the type of D Wink will institute, is that mean we are moving more towards a 3-4 type of players. We massively need beef at LB and D line in my opinion.
Could not have said it better myself. Sherwood and McDonald look like scarecrows out there and get run over and pushed around. Beef up!
There’s no rush. We don’t have a game next week. Some of the teams still playing might even have a decent candidate option. People are very dramatic here
Leonhard is coming in tomorrow for his second interview I read somewhere. So that tells me two things, first he is somewhat still interested, and also indicates that they will be others before the decision is made. Wink may be a strong contender but not a done deal IMO. At least I hope so.
With Leonard there may actually be some hope for the defense. He is worth waiting even until after the SB. With Wilks 2.0 I just a hard time seeing anything positive. That should be plan Z.
I agree that Leonhard is the far and away better choice but the Wilks 2.0 thing is absurd. Nothing even close to the same unless you’re looking at their ages.
Are we going to ignore he was let go 3 times by 3 different teams in the last 4 years, with similar thing being key knock on Wilks?
This is not being really genuine in your point. He was with the Ravens for years before he was let go and won a SB there. Giants had very little talent, like us, defensively. But he was mainly let go because him and Daboll did not get along. Michigan is a shit show right now. Who knows if he would have been retained or not, I don't know Michigan's defense ranks.
