You want Beck under center next year? Cool, but he could probably be had in the 5th - 7th rounds.

Using the #2 overall on Beck would be a colossal mistake.

If Carson Beck is our starter we're in trouble, and if we take him any sooner than the 5th round the GM should be fired.

Carson Beck seems to enjoy being a celebrity a little too much and he hasn't even been drafted yet.

Bain should be the pick at 2, he has been a force to be reckoned with all year and has produced all year.

He definitely had an impact in that championship game, he’s good against the run and a pass rusher, it’s not even potential at this point. The eye test is the evidence with Bain.

If Jets draft him at 2 I would be excited about the defense next year.

The Jets also have two capable (not great) ends already. McDonald can be on the field more often in pass rushing packages if you want to kick JJ or Bain inside during obvious pass rushing situations.

Bain instantly improves the shitty run defense too although I think Reese can be effective against the run as well since he has such long arms and is so strong.

didn't think about moving Bain inside on 3rd down but that would kind of address the issue with his arms/bend and still keep McDonald on the field

We just need a closer so bad which is why I prefer Reese.

Beck has just been in college too damn long. He has like "senioritis" in life.

Someone who enrolled in college in January of 2020, six fuckin years ago, should NOT still be in college like a burnt out undergrad. I dont care if he's an athlete or not. That dude is spent with the college life, it is time to be a man.

I actually dont hate on him as a prospect, he has good processing skills and is a rhythm type passer. I think he's worth drafting, if nothing else he could pan out as a solid backup who knows maybe more. But someone has to get to him quick and get him to grow up

He also said in his press conference he graduated two years ago and just chills at home or goes to the facility. I didn’t know these guys didn’t even have to take classes even with all the waivers and extensions they get.

Not that the stars are really “student athletes” even within their four year tenure but still.

How does that even qualify as NCAA? He's a graduate playing against students. And apparently boning a porn star.

that's the new world that was created in college sports. Activist judges and ineffective collegiate administrators have made this the new norm, Beck is one of many.

That's why I cant hate on him specifically. Even though he has a VERY punchable face

I don’t really follow college ball much other than watching the playoffs, but man I did not know it had already gotten this far out of hand…guys playing 6 years, that Chambliss kid wants to go play a 7th…it’s fucking a travesty

I played from 2000 - 2005, with a red shirt year. I completed my degree in 4 years, but had to be enrolled in at least one class both semesters to be eligible my final year. So I took it easy and enrolled in film appreciation and introduction to photography. Cake classes.

I'll admit, it was pretty awesome having no real responsibilities, except working out, practice, trying to get laid (mostly unsuccessful) and ball.

I wasn't even living in a mansion, getting paid millions or banging a porn star.

It makes sense why a lot of these kids are staying as long as they can.

"Don't hate the player, hate the game".......or something like that.

You went the old “Matt Leinart is only taking ball room dancing” path. That’s fine. 1 red shirt year and graduate transfers have always been a thing.

These guys are just absurd these days. The National Championship has two rosters filled with 24 year old starters.

The NCAA just doesn’t want to get sued for billions any more so they just said no rules!!!!

Do you prefer Reese at 2? I have been complaining about lack of LB on this team for a while now, I have no issues with Reese either.

I just want a plug and play draft pick. Bain will not need to learn too much in the beginning, just put hand in dirt and get after QB. I have no clue what Jets scheme will be and what it will ask of LB position.

If scheme does not fit with Reese ability he will appear like an over drafted player. Honestly I just don’t trust this CS and it scares me to think they might end up with an inexperienced DC.

Your last paragraph explains it perfectly. That’s why I would prefer Bain at #2. The best defender in the draft is Downs but as a safety taking him at #2 with so many other needs probably isn’t the right thing to do. So at #2 it would be Bain for me.

I like Reese as a prospect but I am not entirely sure where his best fit is. If a team plays him off the ball, he will be good but he’s not worth the #2 pick.

If a team plays him at the pure 4-3 edge I think it’s really boom or bust. I feel like edge rushers like him either wreck the game from the start or don’t ever adapt to all the blocking schemes, pace of the game, etc.

I think his best fit is as a 3-4 edge/outside linebacker. He will play a lot more free in that position and be able to think less. Just set the edge and get up field.

Bain is safer IMO. Still would never object to a trade down. David Bailey is a good consolation prize to pick up another first rounder.
