I quoted exactly the words you wrote! An opinion is still not a report or an article, especially when a reporter repeats an opinion from another commentator - I can spell it out for you, but I can't understand it for you. You not only cannot understand the difference, you want to argue about it!

He’s the defensive passing game coordinator for the Vikings, not offensive.

Ok let me say this slowly so you may understand. Someone else said there were reports of mutual interest. I pulled that quote specifically to show there was only opinion that the reporter felt it was a good fit. I literally was telling that person exactly what you’re trying to tell me. Keep making a fool of yourself though.

Beats a previously failed DC/HC, but presents a risk factor this HC staff is often ill equipped to deal with.

I’d be fine with a first time coordinator in this case. While I don’t think Glenn should call the D I agree that his philosophy should be better expressed by his players and therefore through his coordinators.

With a new DC he’d probably have more room to work with them to mesh styles as opposed to with someone who is established. Unless, like Martindale, they happen to be closely philosophically aligned.

As far as why would anyone talented come here…money, being in NY, the hopes of being part of resurrecting a horrific franchise, etc. I get what you’re saying but if we don’t attempt to reach out to talented candidates simply because we’re hopeless, we’re just digging ourselves further into that hole.

How bout we split the difference and go with an previously successful DC or HC just once?

I like that. Matter of fact, again my two cents, this whole premise that AG should call his own D, after his first year of dismal failure, wherein HE personally hand picked his DC, fired him mid season after apparently zero personal over sight of his so called D philosophy, made and interim DC with worst results, again where was he then?
What self respected high end candidate would even consider taking the job with that premise. Come on in, but I will run the D, because as you can see, I have the HC duties down pat.
Hell, he took RS defense and destroyed it this year, and failed on his HC duties. Now we want to add to his work load by running the D. Good God….who will run the team?
if that is the premise fire AG now. And fix the real problem.

As I said, I can explain it for you but I can't understand it for you. Perhaps third or fourth hand reports of opinions are not something anyone should be basing an argument upon.

Harris, Leonard, Schwarz would be great, but would they want to come here and how much authority would they have to establish the D they think is best and call the D plays? Without that it would be another farce with AG not doing the job he is being paid to do. HC to oversee it all and set the game plan and expectations, something he needs to improve by a bunch.

    Hughes on Twitter:

“Conducting interviews this week. Mutual interest with Wink Martindale. They’ll probably release guys they interviewed once they’ve complete first round, as opposed to doing it all individually“

So much for Wink not being interested because we’re a shitshow and Aaron Glenn is an idiot.

Wink would be interested because Glenn is the only coach that will give him another shot in the NFL, not many on here are on the Wink bandwagon (Wilks 2.0)
Let's see how many interviews Wink gets.

Gonna hope you don’t actually think Wilks and Wink run anything close to the same defense and you’re just being dramatic because you hate Glenn.

Not the same defenses, just old retread DC. Again, let's see how many interviews Wink gets, betcha it's 1, nothing to do with Glenn

goalposts are moving. The original thought in this thread is that no one would want the job.

Retread DC is not a bad thing. Wink is pretty safe and if you get a guy like Reese who can line up anywhere, you want a DC who has exotic looks and creates pressure. My top choice? Nope but not a bad choice at all.

My goal posts haven't moved, I still don't think a sought after DC will come here which is why I said let's see how many interviews Wink gets. Tons of DC openings and the only team linked to Wink is us? Red flag, I wanted Leonard but he's probably going to the Giants. I'd rather have the Flores protégé then Wink.
