Rooting for our other picks to be higher cowboys in round 2 and the colts to move up to 16 maybe with a loss.
If what you say is True, the only way for Woody to Fire Glenn is a blowout loss, then Glenn will play to win against a team that may rest players and want to lose to the Jets. The only way to hope to lose to get the #2 or keep #3 would be to fire Glenn this week.
If I thought the No. 1 pick were the key to a new era of Jets success, I might - MIGHT - agree with you on this. Until then, in two of those games, I’d sooner root for the plague.
The second #1 pick is getting stronger. Indy plays Texas next week which should put them at 8-9 They could move up a couple of slots to 16.
Here’s the only part that sticks in my craw, keeping in mind that I was never thrilled with hiring AG as a coach, didn’t see anything this season to change that, and don’t think he’s the best guy to rebuild: Trading present talent for future, prospective talent is the definition of management quitting on 2025 while the remaining players and coaches are still trying. What really fries my ass is that the one guy thrown on the trash heap is an all-time Jets great, who I loved watching as a player; and yet, the people who will decide to shit on AG are the same half-tards who’ve mismanaged the team for the better part of two decades and who decided on a mid-season fire sale while he was still coaching. That’s a shitty way to run ANY business.
The early mocks that came out right after the Sauce trade were originally projecting that picks in the 30's, lol. The Jets mid-season trades were literally the only good thing to happen this season.
I'm not opposed to drafting Moore at #3 if it comes to that. I don't particularly like him as a prospect but the upside to a QB being good is so high it could warrant a shot. I just don't think it's very likely he'll be available at #3 and I'm staunchly opposed to trading up for him. I'm just getting deja vu from the Lawrence draft where this entire board (myself included) talked itself into Wilson or Fields as a means of coping about not getting Lawrence.
Yeah but it was pretty clear we were a bad team and Glenn was a bad coach really early in the season. If anything, I think our mistake was that we didn't start tanking early enough. By the time we went full-on tank, it was too late to get the #1 pick. Now we're in the familiar spot where we were arguably the worst team in football and still don't have our choice of the top QB. That's the real malpractice. I know you're not very high on Mendoza, but not tanking correctly has been a recurring problem for this franchise. We always bottom out but not quite enough to get the top QB. Baker, Lawrence, Mendoza - the list goes on and on.
I get it, and I was there too. Which is why I am carefully evaluating aspects I have not considered to be critical then. It's one of the reasons I like Moore actually. He is anti Fields. Fields had a Cadillac of OL and he held the ball forever. I was wrong to ignore it. Fields weakness was processing and anticipation. He released the ball in 3.1 seconds, and usually to the first read after it is open. I focused carefully on that aspect. Moore releases in 2.5 and goes through reads very quickly, often not the 1st one and gets to 4th also as I showed before, and anticipates. And still completes at one of the highest rates in FSB. Btw, WRs were injured a lot too. Benson was a scrub who played major role for him because of the injuries. And Oregon OL I did not find to be that great. Definitely not what Fields and Zach had. Zach also had shit competition, which I ignored. I will not make the same mistake again. Anyway, the point is this like a world of difference, they are literally on opposite end of the spectrum there. @Jets79 you called it perfectly on Fields, do you see them similarly? If anything I am now looking some someone who is opposite of Fields, which I believe Moore is. Also, this is not like Lawrence and everyone else we are trying to convince ourselves is good. It's more like Young/Stroud from that perspective. I implore to watch the tape, just like I myself was told to do, and it was helpful. I really respect your opinion, and do want to know if you still think this is Fields after watching, because to me it's the fact it is opposite that's very attractive. I do have a concern that this is really the 1st year starting, that is legitimate. But played so well and improved as the season went along. Each game is important for evaluation in his case, and next game will be critical too, given he didn't have that many starts. As far as Mendoza, I would take him also, he is #2 for me. He reminds me of more mobile Cousins (not when he was drafted but in the NFL), he can be a solid starter and I think we can win with him. I would take that any time. And maybe he can be even better (or worse too). But I would take Moore before him.
I did watch tape of Moore and I didn't particularly like it. I think he's a system QB. Snap -> immediately throw to first read constitutes the vast majority of his throws. This is reflected in his quick time to throw number, which looks like a good thing if taken at face value but also means he's not going through progressions most of the time. We can't just trust college stats regardless of level of competition. Fields had incredible stats in college against great competition. So many of these college systems are extremely QB-friendly because there are huge gaps in coaching and surrounding talent. These things are not repeatable in the NFL unless you hire an elite offensive-minded HC and draft extremely well.
We are going to have to disagree on that. I see him going through progressions as much as others, I gave multiple examples from a single game (not random examples from his career), his last game against solid opponent, and you have to watch in the context of others too, since they all throw to 1st reads a lot. He just goes through progressions and makes quick decisions, faster than other top guys, which is incredibly important skill that translates into NFL.
Multiple examples from a single game mean nothing. A guy can throw to his 2nd or 3rd or 4th read multiple times a game and still have single-read throws constitute the vast majority of his throws. The guy averaged 26 passing attempts per game - of course there are going to be multiple non first-read throws in every game. Regardless, Moore's quick time to throw number and the eye test strongly imply that the vast majority of his throws were to his first read.
Again, evaluate in context of others, like Mendoza, etc.. We can clearly see how he processes fast on multiple reads, this is not nothing, especially when he does it quite a few times a game. From what I see, it's the same number of 1st reads as other top prospects, who all throw to 1st reads too, but faster processing. Are you sure Mendoza does not throw to 1st read at the similar rate? We are just going to have to disagree, but would love to know what others think as well on that particular aspect.
Btw, Buffalo is only -8.5 points favorites for Sunday. Looks like Vegas feels they will be resting their starters or it would be -14 or more.
Now that Week 17 is over, we have our answers. Browns won and Giants lost. We are picking 3rd unless we win in Buffalo next Sunday. Raiders are tanking shamelessly and I am glad Max Crosby is embarrassing the Raiders management with his Instagram videos. So Raiders will lose to the Chiefs. Next week's crucial game is Giants-Cowboys. Cowboys have a bad defense and Giants have a good offense and defense. If Dart plays as well as he did against the Raiders, I honestly can see Giants winning against the Cowboys which will put us into 2nd slot. One last thing left for the season. Pray for Giants! P.S. Not worried about Bills losing to the Jets. Even their back ups will put 30 on us and we are incapable of scoring even 14 points.
Interesting matchup Alabama vs Indiana. Ty Simpson and Mendoza we will see how that goes. If Simpson does well he could move up.
Cheat the hangman??? No way.. Make these useless m'fers get on that plane, fly to Buffalo, suit up and their asses handed to them for 4hrs. Then get their asses BACK on the plane, fly home and empty their lockers that Monday after hearing Glenn tell them how proud he is of their effort this year.
