We'll have to replace 2 spots on the O-line (Simpson is gone & we HAVE to upgrade Myers). Which means that drafting OT Francis Mauigoa (Miami) or OT Spencer Fano (Utah) & pushing Armand Membou inside to OG is not entirely out of the question. That would make 1 heck of an O-line for a QB to come in & succeed. A QB's success thereby translates to success for the WR & TE corps --- not to mention that it would greatly help out Breece Hall. Nothing should be off the table ---- except trading up for a 22yr old QB.

When he was drafted, Sam Darnold didn't have a WR or a RB or an O-line. He had just turned 21yrs old after the draft & before summer training camp --- yet the NYJ organization expected him to be a miracle worker.

Membou has been the lone bright spot and he's a tackle, they don't want to move to guard because guards make less money. You could just say get your ass inside but that's not going to go over well with the player.

Have to agree here. Not sure about Membou's personality but you don't move someone "inside" unless they completely blow in the spot they occupy. I got/get the sense they are happy with Membou at this point and would be very surprised if they drafted another guy high. They better be damn sure Membou takes one for the "team" BEFORE they make that decision.

    From Jay Glazer on Twitter:

"Scoopage: Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building NFL on Fox has learned. This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas"

This is among the more blatant tank jobs I've seen. Thankfully the Giants are largely doing the same.

Yeah, the Raiders are in control of their own destiny when it comes to #1 overall pick. If they lose out, they get the QB of their choice, and that's exactly what they are trying to do. The Giants of course also would prefer #1 overall, since they can trade down and get a haul, but the Raiders do have more at stake. It's going to be a fascinating game. If the Giants lose, we will probably still be behind Raiders, because other results so far have been unfavorable to us as far as SoS. But the Giants will hold #1 overall, which means there is a trade up possibility. I have a hard time seeing Giants move on from Dart after 1 year. I don't recall teams moving on from 1st round picks aside from Arizona and Rosen, and Rosen played pretty poorly in his rookie season. Dart has shown some serious flashes of talent. Which means most likely the pick will be for sale.

Right now it is hard for me to imagine us moving up. We fucked things up badly with these two special teams wins. We will see in a couple of days, but we might be looking at Simpson as our best option in the draft if he even declares.

Raiders formally announce their tank. They ruled Max Crosby out despite his objections. He stormed out of the building when they said they’re not playing him and refused to practice.

If the NFL officials had any nutsacks in their office they’d fine them.

Tank jobs have not been this obvious in years to be honest. At least teams would do it more subtly. Raiders can do whatever they want but seems like Giants are as motivated as them to lose this game. I can’t wait to watch this game on TV. This one will be for the ages. Go Raiders! Please win and fuck this up.

Just get rid of the draft and have college players enter as free agents. You still have the cap, but they can sign with whoever they want, so we don’t have to root for losing from October on

Any Jets fan over 30 knows the most likely way this plays out. The Raiders and Browns will both pick up wins over the next two weeks ... and then the Jets will beat Buffalo in Week 18 and F it all up.

Raiders deactivate Maxx Crosby for the Giants game. The tank is real.

This is interesting and deserves further discussion. How do you feel this would impact prospects coming out? Would teams start building their caps to free up money at draft time? What happens when a generational QB comes out? There would be massive contract busts and veterans would definitely not be happy about rookies getting the biggest deals.

Alot of otherwise intelligent people become very stupid at the prospect of hope when it comes to drafting QB’s, but Zach took the cake. Sach had every sign of an overinflated prospect. No one knew this kid before his final season during Covid. No one looked at the fact BYU was aiming to bench him or at least have him compete for his job before the season started, but didn’t have the opportunity to really allow for it due to Covid. They still took away his Captain role. They never looked at the fact this kid played a season against one of the most cupcake schedules in history because of Covid, in front of empty seats. They tried so desperately to compare him to Mahomes because his plays were all off schedule and he could make odd angled throws. Off schedule plays against the awful competition he faced wasn’t a positive, it was clear proof this kid couldn’t run a standard offense and read a defense. I was absolutely ridiculed on this site by leading up to the draft for pointing these things out.

Yep, I hadn't been that mad at a draft selection since Vernon Gholston.

At least vern just sucked.... and didn't spawn insane pollution of the board

How else would they maintain the illusion of parity though?

the college prospects are used to that type of system and they all have agents now so it wouldn’t be too different for them. It would be better for them so they are not stuck with the rookie scale and can pick their teams.

But yes, the veterans would be crushed by it, so it probably won’t ever pass with the players union

No, they'd take away the #1 pick. Or their #2 pick.
