They might if the Raiders win. If the record is same, it's based on strength of schedule. Weaker SoS gets the nod. Right now in SoS we are behind the Giants but ahead of the Raiders. It is very close though. I think the Giants will end up with weaker SoS than us, but between the Raiders and us is VERY close. Ideally the Raiders win, and we move ahead of them to #3. If the Giants win, the Raiders will be #1, the Browns #2, and the Giants #3. This is the worst case scenario for us if we want Moore or Mendoza.

If the Raiders win, the Giants will stay 1, then Browns, and then likely us, the at #4 the Raiders. This is much better.

@SOXXX2 is swearing by Pete Carroll to win this game. We need to manifest this into reality somehow.

If the Raiders win we move to 3, if giants win we stay put because of strength of schedule.

The problem is Winston is also not bad. Maybe at this stage even better than Dart. Really hoping the Raiders will pull this off somehow but very unlikely.

I think it's all conjecture at this point. The Jets are NOT getting the 1 or 2 pick just by sheer virtue "we are the Jets."

There are also NO FA QB's worth 2 shits this offseason. I think there are a number of threads on that subject. Hell, Tyrod Taylor might just be the best we can find, IF he even decides to stay.

Bottom line, the Jets are going to pay, BIG time to move up for one of these kids and that's IF a trade is even on the table.

I was listening to Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller, yesterday/Tuesday, and Jim Miller, VERY subdued, asked Pat what he thought of the Jets situation and, for the first time in my life, Kirwan had NOTHING to say. I know he has a soft spot for the Jets, for obvious reasons, and he just sounded full blown dejected. This team is in a world of shit the next couple of years and it doesn't sound like there is a whole lot that can be done about it other than to "live" through it or throw away so many resources that, yeah you get the QB, but sacrifice the entire team to do it. Realistically with all the fun and speculation removed, it really doesn't look good right now and it probably will continue for a while. This, of course, is all assuming Glenn extracts his head from his ass and somehow learns a crap ton about being a head coach before the start of the 2026 season AND Mougey hits on every-single-pick.

    From Jay Glazer on Twitter:

"Scoopage: Raiders told Maxx Crosby they want to shut him down last two games. Crosby, who has played with injuries for much of the year, vehemently disagreed and has left the building NFL on Fox has learned. This could lead to questions on his future in Vegas"

This is among the more blatant tank jobs I've seen. Thankfully the Giants are largely doing the same.

Yeah, the Raiders are in control of their own destiny when it comes to #1 overall pick. If they lose out, they get the QB of their choice, and that's exactly what they are trying to do. The Giants of course also would prefer #1 overall, since they can trade down and get a haul, but the Raiders do have more at stake. It's going to be a fascinating game. If the Giants lose, we will probably still be behind Raiders, because other results so far have been unfavorable to us as far as SoS. But the Giants will hold #1 overall, which means there is a trade up possibility. I have a hard time seeing Giants move on from Dart after 1 year. I don't recall teams moving on from 1st round picks aside from Arizona and Rosen, and Rosen played pretty poorly in his rookie season. Dart has shown some serious flashes of talent. Which means most likely the pick will be for sale.

Right now it is hard for me to imagine us moving up. We fucked things up badly with these two special teams wins. We will see in a couple of days, but we might be looking at Simpson as our best option in the draft if he even declares.

Raiders formally announce their tank. They ruled Max Crosby out despite his objections. He stormed out of the building when they said they’re not playing him and refused to practice.

If the NFL officials had any nutsacks in their office they’d fine them.

Tank jobs have not been this obvious in years to be honest. At least teams would do it more subtly. Raiders can do whatever they want but seems like Giants are as motivated as them to lose this game. I can’t wait to watch this game on TV. This one will be for the ages. Go Raiders! Please win and fuck this up.

Just get rid of the draft and have college players enter as free agents. You still have the cap, but they can sign with whoever they want, so we don’t have to root for losing from October on

This is interesting and deserves further discussion. How do you feel this would impact prospects coming out? Would teams start building their caps to free up money at draft time? What happens when a generational QB comes out? There would be massive contract busts and veterans would definitely not be happy about rookies getting the biggest deals.

How else would they maintain the illusion of parity though?

the college prospects are used to that type of system and they all have agents now so it wouldn’t be too different for them. It would be better for them so they are not stuck with the rookie scale and can pick their teams.

But yes, the veterans would be crushed by it, so it probably won’t ever pass with the players union

No, they'd take away the #1 pick. Or their #2 pick.

Idk, the parity thing works pretty well. There's some crazy stat where a team has gone from last to first in their division a shockingly high % of the time in any given year.

We're just the kings of sustained ineptitude, in big part because we never truly bottom out and get the first overall pick. Not getting the first overall pick leaves room for our bad GMs to screw up and means we're never the most attractive destination for new HC hires since every smart coach knows you need a QB to succeed.

I agree, but I think the fact that we have continued to suck under this system that does support parity, much like our fellow bottom feeders like the Browns and Raiders, is that we have idiots running the show. When you have incompetent leadership who continues to make bad decisions time after time, this is what you get, DESPITE being in a system that is set up to reward the losing teams with better players.

    This is 100% on Woody.

A competent owner would have had some success. A competent owner would have set up the right infrastructure, all the way from the scouting dept to the training facilities to the training programs to the coaching support to the front office personnel. A competent owner would at least know people, if not football, so that he could hire good GMs and good HCs. Instead, our infrastructure has been rated towards the bottom by those NFLPA surveys (legit or not, doesn’t look good that we are rated so low), our owner has consistently hired undeserving and poor GMs, and worse than that, has consistently hired terrible HCs.

    This is not rocket science.

We could have the first pick for 5 years in a row and we’d still suck because Woody doesn’t know who to put in charge of it all.

The most frustrating part to me is that while I hated trading away our two best defensive players, that is done, and now we have such a unique value proposition to go and entice a REAL HC candidate to come here and build HIS team with 5 first round picks in the next two years, but instead of using that truly unique advantage in a real HC search, our fucking imbecile idiotic stupid owner, will run Glenn back and just waste another year and some draft picks.

    We can ALL see it.

Glenn sucks as an HC. He is a defensive coach who fields one of the worst defenses in the league, and that’s not only due to our roster…his defenses in Detroit were not great either. He already admitted what we all saw right away, that both is handpicked QB and his handpicked DC both SUCKED. He has delivered nothing. Who the fuck knows what “his brand of football” actually is, but sure as shit it’s not about playing hard and playing smart and winning. We’ve done none of those things.

He’s in over his head and we can ALL see it…there is nothing to point to that you can hang your hat on.

All of us except Woody, of course.

This will be the first season Kansas City will not be in the AFC Championship game since 2017.

Even baseball has more parity and they don’t have a salary cap
