I'd be shocked if Woody has ever mandated a tank. The guy is completely incapable of thinking ahead and we screw up our draft position with meaningless wins late in the season every year.
Deciding to tank a season isn't some higher level of thinking, it's mostly what loser organizations do. I'm sure there is a team here and there that has tanked a few games at the end of a season (Pats) but remain largely competitive. Then there are the Jets and their perpetual first round QB ritual every 3-4 years and you're telling me that Woody Johnson wouldn't walk into the HC's office and tell him he wants QB X even if we have to lose every game left on the schedule? That's not some kind of elevated planning here, it's also what occurs to morons. As far as the second part of that sentence, you're smart enough to reason that part of for yourself.

It’s exactly what someone lets his teenage son pick players would do. it’s not “smart” idk why people think Woody is not smart enough to try the lazy shortcut gimmick route that everyone always talks about lol . 100%. Tanking is a smart strategy. And this 2020 season is a perfect example. Jags literally benched Minshew for some pathetic scrub we have never heard of since in name of "QB competition". While we fired the DC who just saved our tank and the #1 spot by miraculous fuck up to allow the Raiders to win last minute. This should have been the alarm bell to take the tank more seriously and not only keep Gregg, but to give James Morgan a shot to play a few games to ensure a tank. But Woody was just too dumb. And granted TL did not turn out like everyone thought, he is still a solid young QB, and way better than what we ever had. Certainly good enough to attract a decent coach. But Woody is just too dumb, too fucking dumb.
I think we got the "Losers" role dialed in pretty good. IF Woody ordered the tank, that means he's starting to feel the pressure from decades of losing under his ownership. I think tanking, while not being the optimum way to build a roster, has its advantages when it comes to getting a top tier QB by any means necessary. Worked for JAX...
And btw, it's not like Khan is some great owner. It's the same guy that hired Urban Meyer after all. But he makes SOME good decisions. Like to actually tank when there is a chance to get a good QB or try a successful OC. Woody seems to make a wrong decision EVERY time.
