This team plays so fucking scared, it's amazing that they came out guns a blazing then fold like a lawn chair. How do you have 12 men on the field after a change of possession? Does that ever happen? This staff man.
My God, Glenn couldn't even acknowledge that Fields could have played better - it's always everyone else's fault.
I haven't been chiming in nearly as much as I want to. I know Glenn will bury himself so I've been trying to tone it down but he is absolutely terrible. Anyone that says you need 3 seasons to evaluate a coach are institutionalized Jet fans. 2 games, all I needed
There is no NFL coaching staff in the last 20 years that thinks Fields gives us the best chance of winning, which means ... Either (a) Glenn is trying to lose, or (b) Glenn is grossly incompetent.
Fields: "Every time we lose, my performance wasn't good enough." It sounds like he's taking responsibility, but it really is just a vacuous statement that doesn't take any accountability for his inability to improve in specific ways over his entire career.
Didn't Fields have a comment earlier this season about how he doesn't feel like he holds onto the ball too long? Just completely clueless.
Aaron Glenn on Justin Fields’ performance: “There are some good things. There are some really good things.” Said there were some plays “our guys gotta make for him out there.” I'm really confused by this. I understand not throwing Fields under the bus. I understand starting him despite his struggles if we're trying to tank. What I don't understand is throwing the other guys under the bus. This just makes no sense no matter how you spin it.
Why are we worse then last year (I know it's Woody)?!? Why, so many teams turn it around but we are constantly awful. We are way worse than Ulbrich let alone Saleh. We need a real coach, Pats had a 2 year rebuild, 2 Years!!! We have 5 year rebuilds twice a decade. Who is better this year? Which players got worse?
Per Rosenblatt, not sure how this is possible as bad as the offense has been. Breece Hall targets over the last five games: Week 6: 0 Week 7: 3 Week 8: 3 Week 10: 1 Week 11: 2
I think he's trying to develop Fields, I just don't think it's going to happen. It's just a learning season at this point and they didn't want him using the running game as a crutch the past few games, I get it. But they probably need a shrink more than a QB coach at this point because Fields turns into Shaky Jake at the .5 second mark of every play... unless he's running for his life, then he is perfectly calm and effortlessly runs for first downs.
Or... Glenn is tanking the season but has to make it look legit. Doesn't really matter which motivation it is, but Glenn is headed for tragedy when the defense inevitably gives up.
I can't imagine a coach tanking this day and age, assume he would be fired after the season because even if he and the owner have an agreement the media and fans would be merciless.
In other words, he's trying to lose. Personally, I believe it's the other option ... he's grossly incompetent.
But yet has no problem throwing others under the bus and holding them accountable. Fields on offense and Michael Clemons on defense have been absolute liabilities and they skate consequence free while guys with great attitudes like Quincy Williams get tossed under the bus. The double standard is not going to last. It is my absolute undying hope that someone in this organization comes to their senses and fires Glenn at the end of the year. We need an offensive minded coach so badly.
Here's a doozie of a stat - The NFL record for fewest takeaways through 10 games prior to this season was 5. We have 1.
Holy hell, that's insane lol. Wilks is terrible, I have to withhold judgement on Engstrand till we get a real QB
This is a bad team, no doubt, but I will continue to believe that we weren’t THIS bad. This coaching staff absolutely sucks and deserves to be fired at year end…but we know Woody won’t do it
I just read an article on NFL.com where Glenn, literally, answered a question as to why, after the 1st drive was so successful, they didn't stick with the plan. Glenn's answer, "we don't want to run Fields into the ground and/or get him hurt." Glenn needs to go. So, his answer, with a QB where his ONLY talent is fucking running the ball, is to not run the ball. Can someone open up a Bitch Slap PLEASE??? What in the holy fuck is fields doing out there then!?! Oh, and WHY are we paying him $20 million dollars! There are SEVEN games left in this season. You run that kid into the fucking basement if you have to! I, literally, spit my coffee out laughing when I read that. Sums up the entire tragedy of this season. It's not like Fields was rocked on any big hits either, on that first drive. In fact, I don't think his uni even got a dirt scuff on it. JSMH There are how many men and women's livelihoods tied to the success of that franchise and Aaron Glenn, Mr. Ole' Skool, is hell bent on NOT running the ball? You absolutely cannot make this shit up.
