Look at it this way Snoop.. The worse he plays? The better our DP and the sooner Fields is gone. He already knows his time here depends on how he finishes the season and frankly, he did himself no favors today.
I think he already sealed his fate, you can't feel good about bringing him back as the starter next year. Let him play out the year just to extract some value and help our DP then go into next season with a vet or rookie.

My dream scenario is trading down with our own first rounder this year. as I've heard next year's class is head and shoulders above this year. Imagine that could set us up with 4 first rounders and 2 second rounders in the following draft. We would still have 2 first rounders this year, albeit late in the round. and up to 3 second rounders.
How much of Fields contract is guaranteed? $20m? If we pass on the QB class of '26, we're gonna need Fields on the roster as TT can't stay healthy and Cook obviously isn't in the QB conversation. That leaves two choices.. Fields or a one rental Vet QB.
I like this idea but what happens when we have a scenario like a couple years ago when Williams, Daniel's and Maye came out. Teams desperately wanted to trade into the top 3 for one of those guys but no amount of capital would get them there, if we are even half decent next year we likely won't pick top 3. I like the idea of drafting a QB with our 2nd 1st rounder then using the year to evaluate them, if they stink draft another one.
So, we have enough cap room to cut Fields and move on. Good.... His time here needs to come to an end after the season.
The way it is structured is 20 mil total, with 10 guaranteed for next year. So, if we cut him, we wasted 10 mil, yes, but we also saved 10 mil. Hence I am pretty sure we will cut him. These 10 mil savings can be used elsewhere.
It was awesome to see him back. Unfortunately did he even catch 1 pass today? I think I saw Fields throw a couple balls his way in the second half incomplete.
