We'll never know for as long as Fields starts.

AD is not known for his drops though. In his last season in Texas, he had 1 drop on 55 catches. That was top 3 in entire FBS for anyone with more than 15 catches. He did drop 4 balls last year, which is a little high, but very small sample size, and no drops this year on 9 receptions. Also not really known to fumble, in spite of this accident earlier in the year. He still has to put it all together of course, but definitely is NOT known as some butter finger. Pretty exciting prospect still I would say, even in his second year.

Garrett Wilson said Adonai Mitchell had “a hell of a day at practice” today. “He can go up and get the ball. He’s hard to tackle and then you watch him move and you’re like: Oh, he don’t move like his size. He has great body control … we’re gonna use that boy. I’m excited to see what he does because he’s got it all.”

Just saw this as well, I really do like Mitchell and since our WRs are trash past GW he is actually going to get to play.

Oh please. He's running down the left sideline. The correct place for this ball is in his left arm, facing the sideline so that fumbles go out of bounds, and keeping your body between the ball and a trailing defender.

Why did he want to move the ball to the right hand and extend it? Because he's showing off. Idiot.

I actually see many receivers and RBs drop the ball in the end zone once they cross the line. This is also a common flex. Corley was dumb because he did it before crossing the line. That doesn't minimize AD's idiocy.

No credit for going after the fumble when you caused it in the first place without getting hit, just because you wanted to show everybody how awesome you were because you can carry a football across the goal line.

Seriously, I have zero patience for this sort of behavior. Rex and Bruschi called it out on TV - this sort of thing costs games, and it costs people their jobs. Corley, Emari Demercado, Mitchell. If I was a GM of a team, these players would be suspended for four games.

Yes, but the problem is that speed only guarantees you separation in the college game. In the pro game you need speed _and_ elite route running, which is unfortunately not Mitchell's strength.

I don’t think you really need elite route running to get open though. Scheme matters a lot too. Our coordinator comes from a place that didn’t just send Jameson Williams on go routes. They sent him on 20 yard rounded crosses that gain depth as he goes up the field. That’s so difficult to cover.

I think the powers that be here see Mitchell in a similar mold as Jamo. Similar size and speed. Mitchell’s a bit bigger. Jamo was also a huge knucklehead his first two years in the league and it took tough love for Detroit to straighten him out.

I wouldn’t be so down on him. He’s obviously talented.

I don't know Snoop - looks like he just wanted to cross sooner, similar to the runner bending their head to cross the line a little ahead their body. He was very close to the left sideline, so he wanted to cross with right. Either way, it's very unlikely he does it again. And if something like this, which is not expected to happen again, caused his value to lower, where he could then be added to this trade, it's great for us.

Didn't we just get rid of a complete moron WR for trying to show off, by dropping the ball, before he crossed the goal line?

I don't agree about the clowning (and honestly I never will), but you may not be wrong about the trade value. Certainly Colts media and fans seem pissed about the trade. Maybe we are getting him cheap. OK, great. If he never acts the fool again, I'll give you props.

I have this vision of Kevin Costner^H^H^HMougey on the phone saying "I want my picks, and I want AD Mitchell, 'cause I feel like it!"

And incredibly difficult to complete passes to. You need elite arm strength to throw those passes deep enough to lead the receiver away from the trailing DB and ensure the route doesn't get undercut for an interception, and enough smarts that you read the coverage and don't throw that pass in Cover 2 or other zones. If the Jets get a QB who can do that, a) I will be ecstatic, b) Yes AD Mitchell will be a successful receiver here, and c) I will be even more ecstatic.

Heck, you could skip the AD Mitchell trade and just find me a QB who can complete that throw, and I will be ecstatic :)

Yeah, both you and Borat are probably right. The clowning just pisses me off so much that maybe it clouds my judgment. I was going to say I've never seen anybody clown around like this and be successful, but DeSean Jackson and Plaxico were both pretty damn good despite being Grade A idiots.

OK, I am now officially on the AD Mitchell bandwagon :) Can he play QB?

True. Cover 2 with good aware safeties take that throw away but it’s also generally a play action pass.

I think most QB’s can make that throw than you think. It’s actually been Fields best two throws of the year although he does have a really good arm all things considered.

I saw that video someone posted of that fat idiot Joe Douglas celebrating when the Colts took AD Mitchell so he could take Malachi Corley of all people

I hope so much for Mitchell to become a star now

what a difference in philosophies by the way. Mougey is a week on the job practically and he cuts Corley and makes Mitchell a priority.

While that fat boy Douglas was celebrating like we won something so he could get Corley instead of Mitchell

Douglas had such a bad eye for pass catchers in general. Had Corley above Brian Thomas and Mitchell, passed on JSN (leading WR in the NFL right now), drafted Elijah Moore, drafted Mims, drafted Ruckert, didn't even consider Bowers. Just total ineptitude.

Mitchell is the temu version of George Pickens… a talented but maddening inconsistent receiver, who won’t block, makes bonehead mistakes, but every so often makes a jaw dropping play that keeps you saying “he’s going to break out” over and over but never does.
