I think I've seen enough where I don't want this staff around to impact whichever QB we draft next year. Too much incompetence, too much stupidity. You can't have these guys around a young QB.
They got 3 points from that plan. We could have tried some screen passes, play action rollouts, read options, QB design runs, tush push with a yard to go, QB sneaks, get Fields in motion and cut the field in half. But I guess he was worried we would get 0 points then, so upon further review in hindsight he was happy to take the bird at hand of 3 points from offense and try to win that way... That's a pretty odd assessment if you ask me.
What's even more amazing is that he was on the Kotite teams.... the dude should really understand what it takes to suck
Yeah, I think that's my default position as well. There would need to be some miraculous changes for him to stay on for the second year, truly miraculous. And no, by that I do not mean winning a couple of meaningless games at the very end when the season has long been over to hurt the draft position for the next coach.
That whole press conference where Glenn kept saying there was confusion over the fucking first down is enough to make me not want this staff around a young QB. And the whole end of half/end of game sequence.
I kept yelling at the screen, "Bootleg, Bootleg!!" That would have been a fine call on that one 4th down. I'm JSMH They have possibly one of the most gifted running QB's of this generation and all they did was up the gut with Hall. I mean, damn. If you aren't going to throw it you have to dig waaaayyyy deep into the run play well. Where the hell were the RPO's? At this point, not only does Glenn have to go but Fields needs to be benched. He is, without a doubt, afraid to throw the ball. He had no less than 3 wide open (by NFL standards) receivers on 3 different plays and literally checked to a different receiver. Unreal. Edit: let me check myself...he didn't check down to a different receiver. He got pasted for 10 yd. losses, on average, in sacks.
In Glenn's defense, he got confused. I mean the ref put the ball a yard before the sticks. The second ref is standing on the sideline next to him with his hand raised a yard before the sticks. The scoreboard says 4th down and a yard. Very confusing situation. Naturally the only right thing to do is run out the clock and look at the tape.
Yeah, pretty hard to argue with someone AFTER they turn out to be correct. Yet some people still do it. Btw, looks like AG's fellow coordinator in Detroit and now rookie HC just went above 500. The coordinator, whose side of the ball was actually good there. Maybe large ships don't have to take years to turn and look like absolutely the worst embarrassment in the process. Unless Chicago (and Jags) had small ships, that could be it also.
I just saw where Glenn mentioned the kick would’ve been 65, 68 yards at the end of the game. No coach, it was 62. Just 4 yards longer than the 58 yarder Folk already made easily this year. Same guy who faked a punt on 4th down so he wouldn’t hand DEN the ball at the 50 yard line, and then just let the clock run put with 36 seconds left while his team stood there for 11 seconds staring at him on the field. This is the guy asking our players to trust the gameplans and give 110%. Seriously.
This 1000%, he either didn't know how long the kick was (completely inexcusable), he exaggerated it in the press conference (stupidity) or he was actually locked in on his "target" of the 35. He said the target was the 35!?! Folf kicked a 58 yarder that would have been good from... 62. How tf is the target the 35 making it a 52 yard fg, in this day and age with these kickers and rules that is coaching malpractice.
Obviously, but you responded to me asking something from 5 weeks ago was stupid 5 weeks ago. It was. It's not now, but it was then.
Not really sure where else to post this so I'll post it here: Rich Cimini @RichCimini The Jets are releasing DT Leonard Taylor III, per source. The 2024 UDFA had been inactive. They will have to make a corresponding move later today. #Jets Makes absolutely no sense. I thought he was one of the better players we had on the DL... then he couldn't even make the active roster and now he's released. While we trot out guys that shouldn't even be in the league.
Very honest question- what is Aaron Glenn good at? What is his philosophy as a coach? How does he improve the room when he walks in?
As I pointed out countless times this past offseason that hire really should of put the majority fanbase on a much higher level of "wait wtf are we actually doing here" alert then it did. But of course those same fans never seem to want to spoil the moment as people scramble to set up their annual round of delusional expectations for the following season. Fast forward to today and now I get to read a lot of those same people as they focus in and call for a need to bench Fields 6 games in and insert Tyrod freaking Taylor as the starting QB of this go nowhere football team. But again, why focus in on the bigger picture of fundamental fail, right? I said it a couple weeks back and I'll repeat it again today. Letting this new regime hand pick their own choice QB out of the available option of guys we have a lot of comparative data on, and seeing what *they* could do with that guy, was one of the only core rebuild a team approach variables we got right last winter imo. As such Fields needs to be given every chance to work. Even if working at year's end just plays out to be more of the same'ish high and lows "not a franchise QB" play we've seen he's capable of elsewhere. The guy we brought in to fix this can't be allowed to spit out the worst comparative and completely unplayable version of that here, and then be given an early out that allows them to remain in place to do the same with the next hype baby you bring in from the draft. That's just stupid. Stop cheering for stupid people.
