Well we are definitely professionals at that. I’ll never forget years and years ago when I worked for the NBA, I somehow found myself in conversation with someone pretty high ranking in a pretty prominent front office. he was talking about fans online especially because Twitter had just lost at this point. He told me about how they would sit around and laugh as fans were getting mad over things that are fan created. “I can’t believe they didn’t trade for this guy” “Whoever said that was you even a possibility? also mentioned how the cliché phrase of it takes two to tango is a very real thing when it comes to fans getting upset about free agents. The player has to want to play for the team in order for them to come to an agreement on a contract. Kinda hard to do that if the player doesn’t even want to talk to you. Long story short, I think that’s what happened with this thread.

Don’t think so. The closest I can think of is Drew Bledsoe to the Bills but that was in the offseason.
I looked it up. Yes, Bledsoe in April 2001 to Bills which I completely forgot and Donavan McNabb Eagles to Washington 2010 (also offseason).
