Its like people didn't see the roster before the season started. We were bad from the draft on, terrible coaching is just a bonus. I mean, we cant tackle... what a joke. We are a team thats 2 seasons and 4 games from the complete rebuild we've needed. We had a crap roster that instead of tearing down we desperately cobbled for years. I was insisting we should have cashed out on Sauce ad Breece 2 years ago. They were both worth a fortune and neither is a position you build around, or a player of championship caliber. What we could have had if we followed Ouchy. We should be competing for the conference title right now, not where we are...which is our home in the cellar. Everyone know this is nowhere.
I mostly agree with you but I am a little disappointed that he doesn’t seem to have put his stamp on the team yet. yeah they got terrible players so losing is expected, I just remember when they hired Parcells, overnight the team had an identity. You could see how they wanted to win., fundamentals, smart play, there was a certain style Now yeah, Parcells is a hall of famer, so it’s unfair to compare. But I felt the same thing with Rex as well, clearly it was the team took on Rex Ryan identity immediately. Blitzing, ground and pound
I was in an Eagles’ town this weekend and their fans wore “Birds” clothing and kept saying “Go Birds!” I don’t know what it’s like to be a fan of a team that you can be proud of, that isn’t an embarassment, that doesn’t have corrupt ownership.
Fox put up the stat 2025 New York Jets are the first team in NFL history to start 0-5 with zero takeways.
We need to follow it up with more history next week: First team in NFL history to fire its head coach in consecutive seasons after a loss in London.
Parcells was almost fired in the middle of his first year with Giants. George Young tried to get Howard Schnellenberger to replace him in season and he declined.
You know your coach/QB sucks when people start doing the "well, [insert all time great coach/QB] struggled their first year too." Totally meaningless. Most of the guys who suck immediately just suck.
In any sport, has there been an occasion where the league steps in and takes over a franchise beside because it's gotten so bad at functioning at the professional level? I wouldn't say the jets are there yet, but if they fail another rebuild it's an easy 20 (19 out if 20 because of 2015) straight losing seasons
and I would bet that in almost every case where a coach subsequently became "great" it is because they lucked into a good QB.
Maybe not directly relevant to this thread, but I know the Jets have only won 4 division titles in our history so I had to look it up to confirm what I thought… In the history of the NFL since the NFL/AFL merger in 1970, the Jets are the team that has won the fewest division titles in that time. I kind of knew it in my bones but had to look it up to confirm. This is a BAAAADDDD franchise and while Woody is the main reason for the last 20 years, there has been a LOT of stink before him.
partly/mostly that but also we shared the division with the Brady led patriots who won the division seemingly forever so that didn't help.
The Jets are so tied up with the idea of moral victories that they've probably convinced themselves that football is actually golf and their 0-5 record has them ahead of everyone else.
A shitty team can still hustle. A shitty team can play through the whistle. A shitty team can play smart football and understand the situation. A shitty team can still be strategically fundamental. A shitty team can be coached to play at or even above their percieved talent threshold. What we’re looking at is a poorly coached team.
