    This isn't the year.
I thought our defense was going to be so much better than it is...
JF had one horrible game. Other than that, he's looked good. Fumbles are still an issue...
We need more playmakers but overall
Holy shit the defense is trash.
The self inflicted BS has to stop.. I don't know if it's just a carry over from a previous regime.. most penalties are coming from players from the old regime. Or... if this CS is having the same problems as the last.

Overall. This team is so fucking frustrating. If they don't get it right soon, I'm just going to stop watching the NFL. It's disgusting to treat the fans this way. Year after year. Fuck em'

I've been a fan since the 90s. I could never root for another team.

I've definitely become numb to the failure at this point. It's completely expected and predictable because we make the same organization-wide mistakes over and over.

We're just going to have to luck into a good HC/GM hire. Top candidates won't come here because of our reputation, so Woody is going to have to accidentally choose the right unheralded young candidate one of these times.

40+ year fan here, also go back to the 80s. Like all of you I keep hoping "that this is the year" or "we've finally found the staff to turn this around" but I know deep down that it's probably never gonna happen. No way I can ever root for another team, not after all this suffering because there still is the slight hypothetical chance they could finally win it all. But at this point I know the script, can accurately predict 9 out of ten times how they are gonna blow a game so I find myself kind of expecting the worst and becoming emotionally detached. Sure, I still get pissed off at the SOJ stuff but it's momentary and I just move on with my Sunday after the game.

Kind of sorry I led my son into being a Jets fan cause I know it hasn't brought me much enjoyment but I figure hey, it builds character lol

Rebuilds can happen in one offseason but they’re often contingent on drafting a successful QB high in the draft.

As far as a tear down or rebuild I’m not necessarily advocating for trading any of the good players and/or tanking. But we should’ve been trading down where applicable (we traded up twice in last years mid-rounds), not signing guys like Stephens (still makes no sense to me), turning over guys like Adams, Gipson, etc. (fringe NFL players IMO) and so on.

Yeah, be nice! We aren't the worst in baseball, football, hockey & basketball history, just the CURRENT worst of the 4.

Yeah the bar just keeps getting lower. Give them time. They'll hit 25+

I started in 1985, and all I can say is Thank God for the New York Rangers the past 15 years.

Agreed, which is why I'm so sad when we trade down to give Minnesota JJ McCarthy. And talent evaluation is clearly a problem; we overvalue marginal players like the ones you identified.

I'm afraid we got gunshy because we whiffed on Zack. The Patsies and Niners busted in the same draft, and both dived back in with success (and I suppose Chicago, but that's what you do with the #1 overall pick). That draft was uniquely sucky. Drafting is a gamble, but you can't win unless you play.

Eh full disclosure I thought and still think McCarthy will be an utter garbage quarterback. I said it all over this forum two years ago so it’s not based on his first couple games.

Regardless I think this is a good year to need a QB in the draft and everything indicates we’ll be near the top to get one.

Since the season as far as meaningful games is over then here is where the Jets currently stand for the 2026 draft.

I also felt he was overrated and shouldn't have been a first rounder. Unfortunately I am starting to feel like that was a mistake.

I mean at this point I would even take Shedeur Tebow^H^H^H^HSanders :)

At this point, you have to acknowledge that the only reason to keep any hope alive in this organization is just blind faith. Either that or some "busted clock" logic that says eventually, despite their ineptitude the Jets will have a Franchise QB fall in their lap who is too good for even them to F up.

TBH, I thought that Darnold was that guy. I thought it was almost too good to be true. Turns out, it was literally too good to be true.

To me, this team looks totally screwed up.
Sherwood and McDonald are too small and too light for a 4-3 look.
Stephens was a terrible contract, but the jets won't admit it and they got better CBs on the bench.
Adams has never done much, but they send him out there every week.
Clemons is a penalty machine but he gets love from Glenn.
    Terrible tackling.
I still think this team is a better fit for a 3-4 defense w McDonald, Sherwood, JJ, and anyone else playing LB. You fit your scheme around your players, not the reverse.
And terrible coaching. Good grief, whose idea was it to have burly RB Allen return kickoffs? Dumb shits. You need speed to return kickoffs so someone can hit the seam. Allen gets hurt on a kickoff return.
The Giants had an all pro CB in Seahorn. Some idiot got the idea of having him return kicks in the preseason against the jets. He tore his knee up on a return in preseason game and was never the same CB.
The jets win 2 games this year. At most.

I've been watching/playing football my entire life. When playing, I picked up a "pig skin" at 5 and didn't put one down until I was in my mid-30's, of which I highly recommend NOT doing. When you are young and stoopid you really have no concept of how much pain your body will be in by the time you are in the latter stages of your life. I've been a Jets fan for decades. I've watched the game as long as I can remember. I love football. Especially pro football. I haven't watched College for decades. College football is what happened to the pro's before the salary cap era. A tiny fraction of teams dominate every single year, with the occasional outlier. The last 20 or 30 years I can pick the top 20 before the season begins and I'm usually off by only one or two teams. That and I'm one of those old schooler's that believe college is for EDUCATION MORE than sports. So many of these kids coming out today, literally, can't string two sentences together or add 2 + 2. Hell, half the kids I can't even understand what the hell they are saying! I'm sure it's English but not sure what kind. Hey, it's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. I'm not even going to bother going down the path of what I think the NIL has done to the college game but I digress.

Probably what hurts me the most is what I harp on the hardest. The fundamentals. I can live with losing to teams that are more talented or it was a well fought contest. Someone has to win/lose. What drives me bat shit crazy is when I see pure inept play, stupid penalties that should have been left behind in high school or pop warner and the bullshit dancing around after a routine tackle, score or whatever. Fuck, many of these kids dance around if they executed a decent block! Maybe I'm just getting old but I don't think so. I've stated before, in other threads, I'm giving the NY Jets the Aaron Glenn era and then I'm over. If this organization can't seem to drag their sorry carcasses into some form of respectability by the time this guy is fired then I'll just move on to a different team. One close to where I live now. Probably the 49'ers. But we'll see. His era just started and, at the very least, I think he cares. That's a start.

Two final notes, if I were Glenn, I would FIRE every single scout that has worked for the Jets for more than 3 years. CLEARLY they are not doing their jobs because the talent level has NOT been good for a very long time now. Last, that graphic of N.O. at the #1 pick, for now, will be moved to #2 when they shred the Jets in their house. That is all.

I already hate the ownership (and the NFL League Office) as much as humanly possible, so now I mostly find myself becoming increasingly angry at the dumb fans in our own fanbase. Our fans never used to be this collectively stupid.

It may turn out that Darnold is in fact that guy - not a real franchise QB, but serviceable enough to win with.

That 2018 draft is turning out to be a blockbuster - three likely first-ballot HoF players (Josh Allen, Saquon, Lamar), and a bunch of All-Pros in the first round alone. And of course the Jets and Browns pick Baker and Darnold in that draft - and then get rid of them before they come good. Sigh....

And BOTH teams, the Jets and Browns, have been dog shit the entire time. When your fan bases are an honest to goodness FACTOR in personnel decision, NO QB that isn't at least pretty damn good coming out the gate, will ever survive. How could they? "We" require a guy to be slinging it all over the yard by year 2 or three and MOST guys aren't really decent until years 5 or even 6/7. Being an honest to goodness Jets fan I can admit my personal faults. I don't EVER see myself giving a kid more than 3 years to be doing damn something and I need to change my perspective.

Starts with the terrible ownership and goes down from there. I can enjoy my weekends and not get any hopes up with this team now they are out of it again. They have major problems
