Not sure too many people that even have a loose understanding of the game of football would agree that Sauce is a top 5 problem on the Jets. And even less so when you consider his salary is $9.3 mil this year (15th highest CB)
His salary also didn’t hamper team building this season and it won’t next when we have a billion dollars in cap space. He’s a good player. Hasn’t been great in about a year and may not ever be worth the salary but that doesn’t mean he’s not a good player anymore. For what it’s worth I think he’s been pretty good in coverage this year. He’s penalized a lot but shit man some of those are reeeeal ticky tack including last night.
If our “star” CB is not making plays and getting Mossed by a 33 year old TE that wasn’t in the league last year, then we have no shot. I agree that he’s relatively good in coverage but I personally expect more from the highest paid CB in the league. In addition to good coverage, I expect TOs and tackling.
I hesitated posting because I thought of this exact thing, but it just feels a bit different. Dan just had a way about him that even though it didn't start off amazing, you just felt like he was going to pull it all together. Either that or all his brazen talk was going to make him look like a buffoon. But as a tight end, you kind of just felt like he knew both sides of the ball and his bluster matched his bravado. I wish I felt differently, but it just seems different with Aaron. Trust me, I love him and want him to succeed, but watching this team makes you just feel sick to your stomach. They literally do things that top FCS (college) teams wouldn't do!? Nothing would make me happier to be wrong, I only hope that my gut is off on this, but I'm not hopeful. And isn't it ironic that it was the Jets that really started to catapult the Lions into a different stratosphere. That win against us in week 15 in 2022 was the win that many felt really started the lions ascension. Go figure!
Dude he gave up one catch that started with a push off (considering Garrett’s was OPI) and he was blanketing a dude who is 3 inches taller than him. His tackling has been fine for over a year now. You wanna rag on TOs? Valid. But this is wildly overblown.
His tackling has been trash as expected. He’s been handsy as usual. He creates no turnovers as on brand. You don’t pay $30M a year for that.
It was still 1 catch for 4 yards. His tackling hasn’t been trash at all this year. He was probably the worst tackler I’ve ever seen last year.
His tackling was poor in one game this season, the usual powder puff effort, possibley Bill's game, though they are all morphing into one depressing blur
His tackling hasn’t been trash this year and was better last year than his first two which were actually trash. I don’t know how to have a convo with someone who is saying things that aren’t happening.
Aaron Glenn is about to be the shortest tenured coach in Jets history... The penalties haven't improved 1 iota. In fact they are worse than they've ever been. Plus the turnovers are exclusively due to poor ball protection, very poor tackling, it's like they don't coach the basic fundamentals here. Good luck on the season. I can't watch this shit anymore. Maybe next year when we have a new competent head coach and new rookie QB, we'll have a chance, but this is some of the most disgusting football I've ever seen.
1. You’re using one play as a blanket statement. I also don’t know how to have a convo with people that do this. 2. Josh Allen does that to many people.
He whiffed on Allen which is easy to do. He was a horrendous tackler his first two years in the league. Hes gradually gotten better to the point where it’s not even part of the convo anymore. Or shouldn’t be at least.
I remember posting a picture of the guy after we drafted him making a joke about how small he was/is. Some posters got a little upset by that. Anyone who ever thought this guy was gonna blow up plays by breaking through blockers, going low, wrapping guys up, etc, well….yea. That said I do think he did his job on the play, it’s just that the greats are great because they do their job better than everyone else. I see prime Revis blowing this play up.
NFL Redzone will be my favorite team again this season. I’m surprised my zero expectations were not even met. I thought we’d beat a horrible Miami team for 1 of the 4 wins we’d see. I don’t know where the wins are on this schedule.
Agreed. I don't know if I've ever seen such poor pass defense and I've been watching football for a LONG time.
I really want to see AG succeed too and was a big fan of his back in the day. And maybe he will learn and grow as the team does and this franchise will come back to some much needed respectability. However, some red flags are starting to pop up. We all know this roster is not loaded with talent but we were promised smart football (minimal dumb penalties, no more mental mistakes etc.) Those things are fixable no matter what the level of talent available but it unbelievably seems as bad or even worse than last year. Players are still pulling the same crap, mistakes are made at the worst time and nothing seems to change. Cutting X. Gipson was easy since he shouldn't have made the roster anyway so that doesn't demonstrate shit to me. Why keep playing guys like Clemons and Adams? They literally bring nothing to the defense and are a net negative. Just throw the rookies out there and get them some valuable reps to develop them for the future. Glenn keeps saying they are going to work on these things but whatever he's doing isn't working. Does AG have the guts to call Steve Wilks to task? The Jets defense hasn't looked this lost in years, blown coverages and missed tackles everywhere.
