Same problems with discipline and game management still exist, plus we are giving up 30+ two weeks in a row to start the season. He is a defensive coach and we have same talent on defense, plus signed to a big contract a guy in Stephens that he handpicked. Very rough start for a defensive coach.
Glenn isn't the DC.. Wilks is and he's not very good at it. People think Glenn is coming up with these gameplans that get shredded weekly but again, Wilks is in charge of the defense. Its his system, his swiss cheese zones, ill timed blitzes.. Wilks owns all of it. So far, it looks like a bad hire by Glenn.
AG picked his DC. We have an experienced DC plus defensive HC and giving up 30 twice now. On top of the issues Saleh had. It's not a great start for AG, pretty alarming actually.
And Glenn is in charge of Wilks. He's allowing these game plans to be put in place. If the plans are as bad as some are making them out to be, then the head coach should be demanding changes to them before they are implemented on game day.
"Achieve Precisely Nothing". They could put that in the Jets font and put it up right over the front door of the team HQ. It could be this year's "All Gas, No Brake".
If things continue, I can definitely see Glenn taking over the defense. Wilks evidently doesn't have the people to play in his system but is too stubborn to make it fit the people he does have. The problem with demoting Wilks before the bye is that he's no good to you going forward and would have to be fired at the end of the season. I think Glenn wanted to be the CEO HC but circumstances may force him into the HC/DC role before the season is over. Scary thought of the day.. Suppose the week one offense WAS a fluke. Tanner didn't come up with a gameplan to challenge Buffalo. In fact, today's offense looked more like a preseason offense than the real one. He clearly was intimidated both by the Buffalo D and his ineffective QB. Now Glenn has two coaches he might have to replace.
Wilks will make it through the season. If Glenn takes over the defense midseason and/or dismisses Wilks and the performance of the defense continues in the way it does, then Woody will be cleaning house again in the offseason.
Yes they were open and JF was channeling his inner ZW. As the day went on though, it was hard to tell if anyone was open or not.
in the 1st Quarter they should’ve had a big play to Wilson but Fields sailed it. Then they were driving before half, beautiful play design to 32 Davis and Fields threw it in the wrong direction then again in the 3rd quarter he had Wilson wide open in front of him, pussed out and didn’t throw it it was 23-3 at that point. If he hits on those throws like an NFL QB should, it’s 23-17 entering the 4th
not sure how to assign blame for all the TFL plays. was it poor blocking, missed assignments or a failed blocking scheme. That last part worries me.thats the coach letting the players down
These plays were brutal to watch. Not sure if the score would have been as you predict, I feel like they could have easily scored more on us if they didn't have a big lead, but it certainly would have helped. Then Tyrod comes in and drives for a TD. Garbage time sure, but I am not sure who was there for Buffalo, I do know the coach tried as hard as he could not to allow the TD and even called a timeout. Buffalo is not some amazing impenetrable defense.
This performance today was right up there with Salehs worst days. 15 games left for this head coach to show something or else he should be fired.
Yes The problem with Saleh wasn't his defense its when he left the defense collapsed, glenn seems like he isn't good at anything.
