I have to disagree with that; it wasn't Alben Barkley who had the sign on his desk that read "The Buck Stops Here."
Anyone bitching about Glenn, should check out, I didn't dislike him, but now I love him, see ya Gipson, hopefully others will shape up! Can't recall the last coach, first game of the season to boot a player, finally my type of coach!
I get that Wilks is the DC, but in the end, the buck stops with Glenn…as the HC, he has the power and the right and the responsibility to get the DC to do better. So yeah, I agree with your point about AG’s word should be law and would hope that he gets on Wilks to make whatever tweaks need to be made. For what it’s worth, I was ok with the Wilks hire when it was made as I think he’s been a pretty good DC at previous stops, but now that I think about it, as someone else pointed out in an earlier post, it does seem like he doesn’t stay in one place too long…there may be something there with him that rubs people the wrong way…we’ll see how it goes, but our secondary play was atrocious and needs to be fixed
Gipson cut is a good sign, but his job is still not done, lets see how much playing time Stephens get this week vs a elite quarterback and if he does play how he reacts. Stephens was worse than Gipson last game. And did more dumb shit. Easy to cut Gipson and make a statement but how will he handle Stephens as Stephens was the new regime big signing and Gipson was not?
Yeah…cutting a kick returner fringe guy is one thing, cutting a starting corner that you just signed to a big free agent deal is not gonna happen after one game. Two very different positions…you can find a dozen guys to go return kicks…we can bring up a guy from the practice squad. Can’t find starting corners as easily…and I know I’m using the term “starting” corner a bit loosely as Stephens in no way looked like a starter last game. So unfortunately we are going to have to hope the coaches can get a better performance out of Stephens, tweak the schemes to help him, or play more of the backups if they feel they can…we’ll see how it goes But yeah, if Stephens is still playing like this in 6 or 8 games, he’ll need to ride the bench But treating players fairly does not necessarily mean treating them all the same…it’s all relative Some positions are tougher than others, or harder to find good players, etc. Just like great players will get more leeway than poor players because they’ve earned that…
Now if they can manage to transform Brandon Stephens into a serviceable CB, it would be a huge achievement. What Wilks doesn't need is Kyle Wilson II. This has become the latest fire that needs to be put out.
Yeah if its anything that Aaron Glenn should know how to coach up is defensive backs since he was a pretty good defensive back, lets hope it was just one bad game.
I would like to remind our posters that this is the proper place to voice your displeasure with the CS and not the Gameday Thread.
Good thing Aaron Glenn talks about discipline and you can't lose games on dumb crap the Jets are sure putting it on display today. Is it to late to early to say Aaron Glenn is Saleh 2.0 with worse defense?
If Glenn doesn't prove he is capable of leading a team by the end of the year then I seriously think they should move on from him and hire McCarthy to draft the next QB. We CANNOT allow an unprepared head coach to draft our next QB and repeat the same failures of the past 15 years.
Nope no way bro, they are going to atleast wait until the Jets draft a Qb so Glenn and his staff have a chance to ruin him. Who needs a offensive minded coach when you are about to draft your future Qb anyways?
If we are sitting here in 3-4 years looking for another head coach after another failed drafted QB it would be just madness.
Why its been rinse and repeat for the last 14 years? It's insanity at this point, Woody and little Bricks insanity.
Unless we can somehow convince Bill Parcells to come out of retirement the Jets aren't making the playoffs again until Woody sells the team, I mean if people can't see this they are blind. It isn't Glenn, Saleh, Bowles, Gase's fault at this point, it's this moron Woodys fault.
Glenn's crew stunk the joint up today no doubt. His coaching staff clearly was not up to the task of playing the Bills even. His QB spit the bit and played scared all day long. This didn't look remotely like the team that showed up last week. Consistency comes with time so, more no-shows might be instore for us this year. Again, when this season is over, I think this roster will be thinned by letting consistently bad players go. Fringe guys like Clemons can't be allow to stay on the roster. Unless Fields turns things around PDQ, he'll be one and done. He's gonna have to take a hard look at his DC too. 2 down.. 15 games to go in year one of the Glenn Era. So far.. mixed results.
Steelers just got beat by the Sam Darnold led Seahawks 31-17 including a hilarious score when the return man ignored a live bowl in the endzone - I wouldn't go putting them in the SB just yet
Time for Wilks to get some heat for his ineffective defenses. 62 points in two games averaging 30pts per game. His defense was gassed by the start of the second quarter and cooked by the 3rd. Glenn will at some point need to address this if he wants to maintain credibility in the organization. Wilks is replaceable and if this keeps up, he can't be here in '26. He's on pace for his defense to give up over 500 points this year. Not looking like the best hire so far for Glenn.
