Great catch. The ugly ghost of the past.

This is true, but with exceptions.

I can't wait for the season.

I'll remember this thread. I can not believe JF was compared to Zach Wilson in this thread. Good times.

They are saying Tyrod Taylor had his knee scoped and is out for the remainder of the preseason with week 1 in jeopardy as well

knee surgery is big deal, I personally dont see him ready for week 1, especially in a new system. We need another QB in here to push these guys. Wentz?

Since we're a GnP team now, I don't see a QB emergency with Taylor on the mend. The idea is not to have to pass a lot and Martinez has shown he can manage a game and didn't look half bad against GB. So his deep ball needs work, but he was the MVP in the CFL so he's not Zach Wilson by any stretch. We're not contending this year anyway so there's really no need to spend a lot of money or God forbid, draft capital to get a washed up Old guy to hand the ball off.

Totally disagree. Martinez & Cook both looked good on Saturday. Let's roll with what we have.

You got a running QB prone to injury and week 1 we’re going to potentially have to play Martinez?

Come on now guys. I want to beat the Steelers, ya know like actually win, not watch some practice squad QB

Probably getting some cartilage / cyst cleaned out... sadly I know too much about this. If it's a minor "clean out" he could be ready in a month or even less (these guys get better treatment than the rest of us. He probably got a good squirt of PRP and stem cells right after the procedure).... and I'm probably getting the same shit done in a month (without the fancy expensive extras...)

I don’t think you’re pulling a body off the street at this point and getting him more up to speed than Cook and Martinez unfortunately.

I agree. If they were a playoff team I'd say maybe. Not this crew. We've got enough on this roster to keep the wheels turning.

We already have a starter and a decently priced back-up, who should be ready week 1. If not, we still have starter ready, and yes, 3d string QBs are not great for any team. Heck for most teams even second string. But we do not have a serious enough injury to get someone else. This is not the same as when Rodgers went out for a season and we needed a legitimate QB. Tyrod will be back soon.

We kept him as a well paid back-up for better or worse. Unless he is out with serious injury, we have to live with it, and there will be a PS guy as a 3d stringer like every team has.
