I like the picks, but this is not a good argument for having a good plan. Desperate and drafting for need ?

I think that's a bit overblown, especially at this point. No coach with any balls would let a dad(yeah, Prime, too) dictate how to groom their player.

Shadeur will go at 67 to the Browns or 68 to Vegas.

    Very fair analysis.
We are chasing need to some degree which is a little concerning to me.
I’m ok with the pick tho as you said inline or Y tight end skills that can catch is much more valuable than a 1-2 snap per drive H TE.
From what I’ve seen from Taylor he can grow into that well.
My only hesitation was he the BPA or were they locked in on need?

I think it's playing out that way. If the kid was great it wouldn't matter but who needs headaches with a less talented player.

Mason Taylor at 6 feet 5 1/2" fits the physical profile that Coach Glenn likes in a receiver. We now have a young promising big offensive line. If they live up to their potential they could be a force for many seasons.

If you go back into the draft forum I was pumping Taylor mid-CFB season because he catches everything thrown his way no matter what. But I thought he was a developmental 4th-5th round guy due to his low athletic upside.

I like him a lot and I think he can play early, I just don’t know if he’s an impactful second round pick compared to what was on the board. I would’ve loved Will Johnson or Nic Scourton personally.

The Jets aren’t in the position to draft BPA. They filled two huge holes with good players…hopefully next draft it’ll be more about the BPA approach.

Ah Harris and Beck both gone. Thought we could’ve had them later in the 2nd if we traded back in or in the 3rd.

Now hope to focus on DT in the 3rd.

Before the draft, I was torn between 7.Warren/42, Ersery and 7.Membou/42. Taylor.. I eventually came down in favor of Membou at 7 because of the importance of offensive tackles. When i ran simulated mock drafts, the choice at 42 consistently came out for Taylor. This was because we needed a starting quality TE more than a #2 receiver, since no TE of starting quality is on the Jets' roster. I did not see any other TE available in the draft with 2-way (receiving and blocking) potential in the 2025 draft. I did see some starting quality WR's likely to be available at pick 73.

Taylor is relatively underdeveloped in his blocking, but he is 20 and can grow into a true 2-way tight end. But because he is not yet ready to be a bruising in-line blocker, it would be wise to draft a TE blocking specialist at some point on Saturday. For tonight, the task is to pick the best available WR at 73.

    Yes, the Jets were desperate for a starting quality OT and TE, but nether choice was a reach;
Both choices were chosen where the consensus of the experts predicted they should be chosen.

Funny you say that.. My wife and I were thinking the exact same thing. Teams are put off by drama and they're scared that not only are you drafting the kid, you're also drafting his Dad and whatever drama that brings. Call it the Rodgers Effect. Teams just want to play football instead of having a sideshow.

Its not about the coaching, its about the ancillary shit that will inevitably come with drafting the kid. You really think Dion wouldn't have some commentary especially if his kid isn't being groomed the way he think they should?

RAS scores were quite good: 8.9. Seems to be fairly fast for his size: 4.68 40 yard dash plus huge mitts for hands 10", which is probably why he is catching everything. Maybe he has that athletic upside. 20 years old too. Looks like AG and Mooge like them young. This is a second round, so there are no slam dunks there, and he appears to be consensus second round pick. Let's hope given his youth and good athleticism he can develop into someone good here.

I seriously don't know. DS is an anomaly at times? It's some f'd dichotomy going on with the whole situation.

I just have this feeling that teams just don't want to take the chance on drafting potential drama. Again, I call it the Rodgers Effect. I know Pittsburgh is in a tight spot but they really don't seem too eager to sign Rodgers. In fact, NO team wanted the drama. FF to this situation. Just like you and me, they just don't know if they drafted a Rookie QB they can groom OR, a celebrity rookie QB they're gonna have to coddle with Dad on any media outlet he wants to be on as his kid is news.

Having said that I support taking a WR with WR2 starting potential with our next pick, I would understand if the Jets chose a starting potential DT or SS at pick 73. The Jets' roster is inadequate in both positions. I just want to give Fields every possible weapon.

Apparently, he was absolutely horrible during the interviews, i seem to recall some saying worst interviews ever, as if totally condescending. That will sour most HCs.
