It seems like anybody we pick in the first round for the OL gets an injury bug. The picks themselves would have been fine if they managed to stay healthy. Bad luck, of which we have always had plenty, or maybe some problem with the conditioning program ????? Lets see what happens with this kid.
Moving AVT from G to T contributed to his injury and guess what the Jets were that dumb they tried it again the following year and got the same outcome, would he have got those injuries playing in his proper position? Doubtful tbh
This was shared by Cimini this morning: Membou's high school highlights Senior Year - Armand Membou highlights - Hudl yeah its just high school so it doesnt mean anything really but holy shit I'm not sure I've seen a high school lineman be so dominant. The one play, which he probably should've been called for being illegally downfield, its a short screen to the WR, Membou pulls in front and pinball style wrecks 2 defenders at once
I don't. Granted this was college and not high school, but watch this: Becton stops blocking as soon as he can on pretty much every play.
I would say it’s less of an effort thing though to be fair to Becton and more of a thing where he’s not fast enough to stay engaged or good enough with getting his hands inside and tight in run blocking to drive. It’s a shame what happened with him here. He’s to blame for some of his own struggles, but with his raw size and ability, a good disciplined principled coach with a good locker room structure could’ve turned him into a dominant right tackle or guard where he excelled last year.
