I get it, but my point is just because you draft ROY, doesn't guarantee overall success. Hell, we drafted offensive and defensive ROY two seasons ago. Won 7 games. Still suck. Your right, it doesn't (always) work.
Bad reach by Miami on top of it too. Kenneth Grant is a good player but he’s basically just a run stuffing nose tackle. In a division that doesn’t really run the ball all too well (yet).
I really like this pick. This dude is "legit." The run game is going to be top 5 no doubt. Now if they can scoop a WR/TE in the next couple rounds that'll be a nice couple days.
It'll be fun to see how it plays out and I hope you are right now. I think he is phenomenal and Miami got a damn good player. Again, I hope you are right.
The better question is: What playmaker would you have selected with the pick? Warren? McMillan? I could've lived with Warren. But i think Membou or a trade shem was the best outcome. They now have two book end tackles going forward
Armand Membou could be our version of Tristan Wirfs. Both with wrestling background, which really helps with the base. Similar size and insane athletics profile: https://ras.football/ras-compare/?&p1=20159&p2=27170&pos=OT After solid sophomore seasons had absolutely dominant jr seasons at RT (PFF score 90+) against good competition. Great pick.
The trick I use.. Seems to work for me. I just tell myself that the NYJ would've just fucked him up somehow last year anyway and he'd never have the success because we drafted him. I then think about it, and find it very believable, and move on. lol
Some background on him. His parents are immigrants from Cameroon whose first language is French, and he speaks it as well. I love that. His mom is a registered nurse. https://www.columbiamissourian.com/...cle_10255f88-824e-11ed-a65e-53fccb8b7d46.html and I love this tweet as well: https://x.com/NYJetsTFMedia/status/1915572040838373428 it says: Armand Membou did not allow a single sack or QB hit over 411 pass blocking snaps at Missouri last season
Easily the best pass protector in the draft. And very good running game too, he was solid, but weaker there before, but really improved last year to make into a strength. Check out his presser. "You are getting a mauler"
Aside from liking the pick, I like the way Mouglenn have handled the draft... just quietly doing their business. Now, we'll see more of what's in their vision for the team. I kinda expect they'll try to make some sort of a splash trade, to give the fans some excitement, after the sensible not flashy Membou pick. So happy I don't have to hear Saleh's slogans anymore... .
9 OL picks in the 1st round. I think we have the best one. The only solid round 2 prospect that's left as OT is Ersery. Everyone else that's left is much lower level. There is a high probability Ersery will be gone too by the time we are on the board. We will see. But if he does get picked before 42, that would mean had we not taken Membou, we would have been left with bottom of the barrel OT prospects. Second round WR talent is still there. Probably there will be a run on WR soon, but should still be something round 2 talent left for us at 42. Not so much for OT, which thankfully we no longer need.
