I mentioned earlier Powell/Ward from the 70s but more recently Jason Fabini was switched over from right to left to take over for Jumbo Elliott also….
I say 40% chance Jets trade back. If they stay put they’ve fooled me with the back and forth - it’ll be between Warren and OT but I think if it is OT and Banks is on the board he will be the pick.
it was 3 examples I chose, not 3 examples from the league total. The left tackle we refused to move went and won a Super Bowl at guard… another example. It was musical chairs on the NE o-line under Belichick another example
I would be happy with either OT (Banks or Membou) or the TE Warrent. If DT is the best player available at our pick I would prefer to trade down. I agree with comments above…the two DTs need to complement each other, not mirror each other. We saw Q dominant two years ago and not so much last year. I put a lot of the defensive struggles on the coaching turmoil more so than the players…guys like Q and Sauce didn’t deteriorate in one year…that whole D underperformed once Woody meddled and fired Saleh. So yeah, we don’t need a Q clone…we need a big run stuffer guy next to Q. And we need a ton of help on O. I’d be happy to solidify the OL with either Banks or Membou or I’d be ok with getting the top TE as we have a need there as well, and then going OL in the second round. Either way works for me
It’s just not as easy as “both 3T’s penetrating to the quarterback.” Two monster DT’s can wreck games if they’re disruptive. Way over simplification of how defensive tackles push offensive lineman around.
Yep. Graham on the same line with Q would transform the entire defense. If he is there at 7 you take him , unless another team gives you an offer you can’t refuse….
I listened to the FAN a good bit this morning and checked out some mock drafts. Not much was said about the Jets taking a QB. *sigh* Most of the talk I heard centered around the Giants taking a QB early at some point in this draft. I'll sleep through most of round 1. If Sanders falls to the Jets I pray they take him otherwise would be another moment in their tortured draft history. Not for another OT one year after they drafted a OT in round 1, not for a RB in this modern NFL, I get that TEs are critical in the modern game but the Jets history at drafting TE early hasn't been good and we don't have a QB to get him the ball anyway. SWING FOR THE FENCES DRAFT A QUARTERBACK!
Sanders will be there at 7 without question. He might be there at 17. We aren’t taking him nor should we.
Most of the draft’s history did not have these kinds of stats. Maybe with more years of history, the trends will change but for right now I’ll choose to follow something that is showing some consistency. I’ll also add that my opinion uses stats based on what these guys did so it’s not just all combine related. I feel combining these 2 help to create a bigger picture of who or what a player is. Personally I’d rather have as much info as I can in something you call a “luck assisted art”, but that’s just me
Solid pick. If so, it means it is back to where it all started: Warren or Membou. Very good choice to have.
Warrent Membo Banks If they’re not available, we’re moving back And that would be pretty exciting I’m favoring OL over a tight end Right now Let’s see who’s available or not available It’s not that complicated
One can dream. Here are my hopes. - No OT in the first round. Supposedly this is rich in Tackle talent. Pick your guy in 2nd round. How many 1st rounders are we going to throw to Offensive Line for God's sake. - No Graham please. - I Sanders is there, grab him. Fields might pan out but what if he doesn't? This kid might be something special. - If Sanders is there and you don't want him, please be agressive and look for a 2026 1st rounder if possible.
