Bingo. Glenn and the GM do not last long if Rodgers has success elsewhere. They will be both liable and will lose their jobs fast.
That's literally how reporters report things in 2025. They have two ways of getting information out to the public: (1) Tweet, or (2) Go on WFAN. I couldn't even tell you what newspaper he works for.
So again, who were the guys who wrote the "'Rodgers is the best available QB and everybody on the Jets loved him...' stories"? That's not even close to this X posting. When you use quotation marks, you use the exact words - who wrote that?
By and large the media as a whole, and especially anything coming out of NY, has lost pretty much credibility when it comes to talking about Aaron Rodgers. 99% of that just goes wherever the wind is currently blowing as far as what is going to generate the most buzz and clicks. I'll say it again though...the Giants are terrible fit for Rodgers. Anybody trying to talk that up is being just as delusional as the people who talked up the bad fit move to our annual dumpster fire offensive gameplans as being "super bowl bound" lol Guessing things are starting to feel a little panic'y for him with Raiders coming off the potential landing spot board. Not that they were an ideal landing spot either, but they were likely a better odds bet then most to end up actually offering him a job before making that deal on Gino. If Rodgers is not reaching out to Seattle and basically telling them whatever they want or need to hear...he needs to be asap.
Rodgers will be just fine. If im him, im in no rush and if he has to, wait until a QB gets hurt when the season starts.
Being in no rush likely just ends up with the league taking the decision to retire out of his own hands. Dude is 42 and catching on as a backup somewhere isn't an acceptable outcome here for him. If Rodgers doesn't walk into 2025 when a starting gig somewhere he's done playing as far as the league will be concerned, and he is certainly smart enough to realize that.
As I posted in another thread i really suspect Cousins ends up snaking that opportunity once cut and when *he* doesn't get a better opportunity offer. Why take on all the Rodgers baggage when you can just plug and play a guy back in who was a highly productive QB in that system 2 seasons ago when fully healthy? I mean the floors are probably similar, and he essentially offers Rodgers' likely 1 season ceiling there without all the Rodgers BS lol
I think it was the NY Post reporting that the Jets have officially cut Rodgers at the start of the league year, today, instead of a June 1st designation. That means they absorb the entire cap hit this year instead of spreading it out over the next 2. I think I prefer taking the hit and moving on like that I am just surprised as I thought they were going to spread it out
No, they are designating him post June 1 cut, you can do it starting today: https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...rodgers-jets-release-quarterback/81603514007/ "New York is designating Rodgers as a post-June 1 release in order to split up the $49 million in dead cap they'll need to take on over the next two years. The designation will not impact Rodgers' ability to sign with a new team once free agency begins later on Wednesday." https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1899903019598168145 "Now official: Jets are releasing Aaron Rodgers after 4 pm today. The Jets will take on $49M in dead money by releasing Rodgers. He’s being designated as a post-June 1 cut, meaning they’ll carry his $21M cap hit until June 1, when it drops to $14M—saving $7M. But they then will absorb a $35M dead cap hit in 2026." This is the right move as far as CAP. You get more flexibility that way. And if you do not spend that money, you carry the CAP into next year. Meaning you can still take the hit if you want, just don't spend the difference. You just now have an option of not taking it. And with CAP going up every year, a hit next year will be proportionally less.
thank you for that information, the article I read was misleading then as they didn’t say anything about the post June 1st designation. This is better info
Steelers and Giants both really want Rodgers. Vikings are also interested. If I'm Rodgers it's a no brainier to go to Pittsburgh.
He just bought his house in NJ two years ago and remodeled recently. Could be a pain in the ass to move just for one year.
Sure, but still pain in the ass - buying another house, selling this one, etc. Who knows, but that's the only reason I can think of he might pick the Giants.
No freaking way, It's Vikings, and it's really not even close. Which is why I'm guessing this is getting drawn out (waiting on them to finalize a decision stance on him). Pittsburgh would basically just amount to them more or less running back 2024 again. Likely with more prime time game slotting. Which granted would be an upgrade for Rodgers if he's looking to get back to his very familiar 1-and-done playoff runs, but not so much as far as any expected gaudy stats he likes go in that Arthur Smith offense.
Why would he need to sell this one, that was the point, especially if it was for only a year, I mean, sure, sell it, if he doesn't want to live in NY, etc but if he did he could mothball it for a year and return.
AR is the antithesis of Steelers football. A SOFT SELFISH TWAT The fans would devour him alive on national TV.
I didn't know he wanted to be a landlord and maintain a house in NJ while going through a hassle of buying yet another house and living elsewhere, but I don't really give a fuck, just speculating that it might be easier not to move again.
