I mean more over the life a new contract, my bad. 0 issues whatsoever with the jump to 15 next year. If he has anther season like last season he’ll be on a bargain deal. Then he gets paid big bucks starting 2027.
At CB, I would actually love to keep Reed…not sure if we can afford his asking price but he’s been a very good player for us As for Fields, I see him as maybe the best option on a list of not very good options with guys like Brissett, Jones, etc. However, if he has to choose between Pitt and NY, I wonder what his thinking will be…how much does he value playing with GW? How does he feel about how Pitt benched him for Russell? In the end, it’ll probably come down to what the deals look like, but I’m guessing if one were much better than the other, he’d have taken it already? My advice to any player trying to choose between a consistently poorly run team with an idiot owner like Woody vs. one of the gold standard teams that is consistently good year in year out, it’s not a difficult choice at all. Interesting to see how this will play out…I don’t think all that highly of the player, but we’re banking on upside potential, and compared to other options in free agency or the draft, I get that Fields may be the best of those options….
Makes a lot of sense, if say he were still in Chicago, became a FA, and is looking for a team, Jets and the Stealers are interested, Stealers is the obvious choice, and it is not particularly close. But that is not the case: he just played for them, and they fucked him. I watched the all 22 film from every game, which I posted here: he played darn good and led him to 4-2 record. If they believed he was their future, just keep playing him. Why change to Russ at that point? They fucked him, as simple as that, they did not believe in him. That's why the Jets still have a chance. Hopefully coupled with a good offer from the Jets and GW connection, Mooge can bring it over the line.
It's 15 mil. Don't be caught up in CAP #s, they are manipulated, pushed down the road, etc... They will be manipulated again and again as long as he is here. The real numbers are 15 mil each year of the 3 year contract, with the team option for that 3d year.
According to Graziano on ESPN, the Falcons are not expected to release Kirk Cousins, so we can likely cross him off. He said Cousins gets a $10 mill bonus if hes on the roster by sunday so theres still a chance they will want to avoid that but the Falcons appear "dug in" on Cousins he shared. IMO thats a real surprise but they have been making some head scratching decisions down there in Atlanta the last few years
Yeh. I was talking about the cap in response to his comment. But I think probably the going salary in 27 for a LB will be around $19. I think he will shine under AG new aggressive D.
We’d have to be quiet in FA which is impossible for a team that’s unfortunately routinely devoid of talent.
The Bears are really focusing in revamping their OL with Ben Johnson there. Thuney, Jonah Jackson, and now Drew Dalman. It took JD 6 years to make OL serviceable. Ben got 3 really good guys before his 1st League year even started. It CAN be done quickly, just can't have someone like JD always doing bargain basement shopping and missing on the picks.
Unfortunately, have to agree here. It really is a no brainer when it comes to picking teams. You are correct, Pittsburg has one of the best running organizations in all of professional sports, period. No need to throw more "shade" on the Jets. It's WELL DOCUMENTED. IMO, it comes down to either money or how he was treated. This whole "respect" thing can take on a life of it's own. He was 4-2 and seemed to be doing well. I have no idea as to "why" the Squealers benched him but that could come to bite them in the ass. They have their own issues, whiffing BIG TIME on Kenny Pickett, which has them in this situation. To be frank, very un-Mike Tomlin like to fart around with his QB room. If it were me, I'd have waited until the kid either got hurt or failed before inserting Wilson but it is what it is. My thinking is Fields is going to get some "love" from a few teams, now that he's decided not to resign with Pittsburg right away. Unfortunately, the $$ would have to be significantly better, offered by the Jets, for him to land here now. We'll see how it all shakes up. An absolute certainty though... I want NO part of Kirk Cousins now. I want no part of MOST of these cats now. The ONLY reason I was interested in Fields at all was his age. He "gets it" then the Jets get a franchise QB for the next decade. He shits the bed, it costs next to nothing to find out and they move on and draft a guy. All these other options are re-tread after re-tread and they are all PAST their prime. Winston, Wentz, Cousins, Brissett...you name it. Even Tyrod Taylor. He's on the "back 9" of his career. I guess we'll know soon enough.
They need to not give anyone the bag. Highly doubt they field a playoff team next season. Don’t overcommit to anyone yet.
"ESPN sources: Washington reached an agreement with former 49ers and Jets DT Javon Kinlaw on a 3-year, $45 million deal with $30 million guaranteed. Kinlaw rejoins Commanders GM Adam Peters after the two worked together in SF." Sherwood deal is looking better and better...
