I think the point is that his team sucks even worse than the Jets this year, so he should shut the fuck up about the Jets. I mean Woody is not exactly living on the streets either and he says a lot of dumb shit, and so does Khan.
Rodgers's numbers in a vacuum would be worth bringing back for another year. But Rodgers is part of the reason the rest of the team collapsed, starting with Hackett and then all the washed up old Packers he made the Jets bring in and then half-assing the offseason and undermining Saleh etc.
I couldn't believe that until I looked at it. 195 ypg, 19 TDs and 17 INTs (in 14 games, he threw more than 1 pick a game). .... and he won the MVP (his second). Guess the game really was so different...
The game is night and day to how it was even not very long ago. Everything about it. Because of the rule changes. How the refs call these games.
I wish Aaron Glen much success in his new position as Jets head coach. When Aaron Rogers sticks his head out of the Rhinoceros asshole and announces his desire to be the Jets quarterback there will be joy and angst amongst Jet fans and sports writers. But who are we lowly Jets season ticket holders to say or do? Suck it up and pay the Johnsons for another year of hope, promises, and mediocre results. Predictable. You want a swan song you Aarons? You got it.
Question is, will Rogers bother to learn the new OC's system or are we going to endure endless DoG flags because the play is getting changed at the LoS. Rodgers' legacy and stats are fine, but if they don't translate into wins, it doesn't matter to anyone other than Rodgers. What OC is going to want to come in and have his gameplans vetoed because the QB doesn't want to run it? Can Rodgers exist in a system where he is not the defacto OC?
That’s exactly right! We have 0 evidence that Rodgers would want that. Much more evidence to say that he wouldn’t want that. Maybe last year humbled him and no other team will give him the full control he likes, but besides that I don’t see him falling in line with an new OC and Head Coach in Aaron Glenn.
We also have 0 evidence that Rodgers is going to over ride game plans, that he's defacto GM or some shadow controller of the Jets. I totally get that it might not work out, but logically, you have have to bring somebody with those stats back for another try. It's clear the team didn't really have good chemistry until later in the season and Rodgers wasn't fully healthy most of the year. I can't stand Rodgers as a person, but he can still play football. He pretty much had the same stats as Mahomes this year, coming off Achilles surgery, but the Chiefs defense can stop the run and close out games while the Jets could not.
I think it really depends who they bring in at OC. The problem was the defense last year. I don't see the wins improving with a worse QB, the Jets need to sure up the run D and install some discipline on both sides of the ball. I don't think Rodgers will be over riding game plans, but changing plays at LOS is kind of what he's good at, so I get that.
63 million cap hit in 2026 if he plays next year, lets face it at best it will 2 years to clean up the mess Joe D made, we are not a playoff team next year with or without Rodgers, time to absorb his cap hit this year and cut ties so we can have a clean slate in 2026. Taylor can be a bridge Qb just fine.
