Kingsbury has not been interviewed, Glenn is having his second interview ….this is becoming pretty transparent.
Very transparent. I’m just not agreeing with the decision. That commanders game has me shook on Glenn. It was awful play calling all game and they had a week extra to prepare. That d couldn’t stop a cold
It's not just one game though, for 3 years before this year it was bad. They also had Hutch and others 2 of these years, its not like they were completely bereft of talent. I simply do not understand this choice. A DC from the team that wins with offense. Him failing in play-offs while one games, it was an important play-off game and cannot simply be ignored. And then pair him with a Detroit executive who was there for 20+ years failing even worse than the Jets. Even the Jets had a year or two where they went to conference Finals in the last 20 years, it's not like going there once makes Detroit this model organization you want to copy success from. They are finally just turning this around and who knows where it will end up, but as of now you do not get a GM who was there for 20+ years and mostly failed in spite of having a HOF QB in Stafford. This just does not make any sense to me.
It’s definitely not one game but it’s hard to ignore that last game as it was horrendous play calling all game. The GM choice must be because he had a significant hand in hiring Glenn and this is his payback. If it is Glenn I wonder what his plan is for OC because whoever that guy is has a tire fire to deal with
I agree. I think the hype on AG was unwarranted, and I for one felt for it. I watched that D get killed with the zone coverage and he refused to change to man coverage.
Eh the Lions are the current model on how to turn around a dogshit culture into a winning one though. I’m not sure on Glenn after what I saw with the stubbornness, but plucking someone who was apart of that culture turnaround isn’t a bad thing.
Glenn hasn't done anything other than ride the coattails of better men. This of course makes him perfect for Woody the trust fund baby.
I hope you are right and Newmark has learned, but there has been a lot of losing and not a lot of winning. I am not even sure they completely turned it around. I want to see what happens next year without Ben Johnson. They reached one Conf championship and had two play-off seasons. It is yet to be determined if they turned it around completely or will go back soon like the Browns. Teams like Chiefs, GB, Philly, they are successful all the time under different regimes. I would prefer someone who spent last decade there, rather than in Detroit mostly losing. And there were two candidates like that that we passed on: Borganzi and Halaby. Even JES was around GM success for a long time and would make more sense too.
Yes - a definite improvement. It sounds like to you it's more important to do things fast than it is to get things right. Why would I care how the Jets "come off looking"? I care about them getting their organization in shape for the first time in decades, nothing else. Simply admitting that the owner needs help in hiring the right people is the first step. The second is finding someone to help. The Jets are in step three now and, like it or not, it will be at least two years before the results can be calculated. The 33rd Team was hired at the beginning of December, over a month before the season ended and most contacts could be made. Do you think Johnson would have made better use of the time if acting alone? I don't care at all about Ulbrich or Hackett or any other coach on the Jets staff today. Looks like one you mentioned quit and the other is probably, on paper, still employed. When the new GM and head coach are in place they will decide who will be on their staff; there's no reason to try to line up a bunch of carts in front of all the horses.
Yeah I'm at a loss regarding all of this. I don't get it either. I'm not surprised given we're one of the dumbest organizations in the league and never learn from our mistakes, but still. This feels so much like Saleh 2.0. Player-friendly DC with a spotty track record from an organization that wins because of offense. I just don't understand it at all. Why do we insist on neglecting offense to this degree despite it being glaringly obvious that our offense has been the limiting factor for 15 years? I just don't know what to say anymore. We're just so reliably stupid as a franchise.
Never underestimate Woody’s utter stupidity. Never. Just when you think he’s a fucking imbecile dumbass who knows nothing about football as proven by our long track record of suck, he shows you over and over again that, wait…he CAN be more stupid…and sure as shit he CAN continue to make fucking stupid decisions. It’s literally unbelievable.
It's the absolute refusal to learn anything from past failures that really gets me. We just do the same things over and over again no matter how many times they don't work out. It's completely mind boggling.
Whoever is chosen for either job should have the freedom to create their own vision. Woody is under pressure to step out of the way. If he interferes again he will be roasted in the media. I don't care who they choose just let them do their thing without the Johnson family's input.
Why is Mccarthy interviewing for every vacant job but ours? Woody this stupid? Saints set to meet with former Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy
There were seven NFL head coach jobs open this season. McCarthy interviewed in Chicago and New Orleans. That is not even close to "every". There must be a reason that five teams did not see fit to interview him.
There is some possible good news: https://x.com/TomPelissero/status/1882138201009401894 "With the #Jets finalizing their expected deal with Aaron Glenn to be their head coach, the team now plans to proceed to additional second interviews for their GM job, per sources. Lance Newmark was in the building with Glenn on Monday and others remain under consideration." Now, I do not get my hopes up a lot here, but is it possible Halaby will come for second round and overtake Newmark? I am not sure Tom has any real sources there, but there is a small sliver of hope.
Who cares the New Gm can hit on every draft pick and draft the next Mahomes, but Aaron Glenn will be developing them and in charge of teaching them the game, you can hire the best gm in the world, but you still got Woody, little Brick and Aaron Glenn in charge of the team and making the real decisions.
