Looks like there was a lot of backlash that they quickly interviewed two lame candidates to satisfy Rooney rule, so they wanted to do a few more to make it appear more legit. Glenn, who can interview this week, refused and they might need to interview some next week before they hire Vrabel.
If he is the guy, they will wait. I think GM is the bigger problem. You want to have GM in place, so that you can hire HCs right after before someone else does. On the other hand, who knows, if a HC they want becomes available 1st, they could get him before the GM and have parallel reporting structure like before. But I feel like GM list is stronger, I want to have a strong GM in place, and then he could help with the HC, maybe even add a couple of names to the list, like Monken and Coen. I will be rooting for Philly to lose, if not this weekend, then next
There was something floating around yesterday that he preferred the raiders or jets…. But I figured it was bullshit. Firing Mayo seems too orchestrated.
Hmm... The Raiders did get rid of their GM, and Tom Brady has connections to Vrabel too. Probably the worst case scenario is Vrabel to the Raiders, and Ben Johnson to NE. I think Vrabel to NE still happens, just because of the Rooney rule backlash might take a bit longer. They are interviewing Ben tomorrow. Who knows it is possible they will announce in a couple of days.
No quality head coach is going to take that Raiders job. Awful situation and in a division with Reid, Payton, and Harbaugh. Raiders are long term fucked, I doubt Vrabel goes there. Likely will go to New England
He knew it was a sham move by a sleazy owner. I’m liking him more and more. My question is simply “ Is he strong enough to change the culture of this highly undisciplined team”
There are reasons I like him as an option (reportedly a good leader who can get in players' ears, some success as DC, part of culture shift in Detroit, and Jets pedigree), but my comment was more facetious because this guy said FU to the Patriots. And somebody who is interested in the Jets but says no to the Patriots has my attention
Had to Google who Mike Locksley was. Looks like a college coach with a poor winning percentage and no NFL experience. Solid choice https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profo...mike-locksley-for-their-head-coaching-vacancy
Guys. My apologies for not attending to this thread sooner. New job, new state and tons of meetings. I just got caught up. Cleaned 63 messages and had to ban @JetFanInNE for 1 week and @barf for 1 month. You have 3 admins here. Petro is White, Cman is black and I am Muslim. We are a diverse message board. Race has no place in this forum. Let's hope Jets can find a good Head Coach.
