If he was a money machine, the Jets would not have been shifted out of a prime time game. Certainly you're not thinking the demand for Rodgers merchandise in the last year is making anyone rich?

Exactly. And, besides, Rodgers has already accomplished the goal he was brought here by ownership to achieve, which was to sell more PSLs and Season Tickets as well as to help boost the sales of the previous and much reviled uniforms in their final year as well as to help usher in the new uniforms by boosting their sales. His job here is done as far as the powers-that-be of this franchise are concerned. It was clear that the fanbase was beginning to become wary of continuing to support the franchise due to an extended playoff drought, so we were sold a bill of goods about how "talented" this roster was (when it was anything but) and that we were a QB away who would come in and put us on his shoulders and carry us like he was Superman into the postseason. It was never going to happen.

Regardless, there's certainly nothing that's happening with this franchise economically that would warrant bringing back someone who, upon his return, will put the new front office on the hook for somewhere between $60 and $70 million of dead cap space potentially through the year 2027.

Rodgers is a all time great QB. He should be better next season.

ACL is a 2 years injury from what I've read & heard in the past.

With the skill position players the Jets have he could have this team in the playoffs next season.

    Achilles.

Are we really going to roll the dice on a now injury-prone 41-42 year old QB who has done nothing but stink up the joint for us, when he has been available, and carry a $60+ million dead cap hit through at least the 2027 season based on the same logic that has produced the disastrously disappointing results that this season has?

If he had a smaller cap hit, I'd be inclined to let him continue as the bridge QB moving forward, as it's easily arguable that even as bad as he's been this year he's just as good as any of the other pathetic options we'll have, but his cap hit is massive and will be a hindrance for the new front office moving forward.

Rodgers is not injury prone. He's taken a beating this season and he's still in there. Who can forget the hit he took in the Minnesota game?

The cap hit is massive either way but he plays the most important psition in the game and there will still be a lot of talent on the team next season might as well let him PLAY.

The Jets are the Jets and they'll do Jets things that's why they have the reputation they have so I don't expect Rodgers to be here next year but he SHOULD BE HERE.

From the looks of it Rodgers is rounding into form.

He's shaking off the rust and getting stronger after the injury.

A rust free Rodgers fully healed, with coaches that know what they are doing is not simply a "bridge" QB he's one one of the best QBs in football.

IF he finishes the year strong, then that's an entirely different discussion that can be had at the end of the year. I still don't think it's worth pushing a $42 million dollar dead cap hit into 2027, though, but I can be persuaded if he looks like what we expected him to be down the stretch.

But based on what we've seen so far, it's not even remotely worth the cap hit and the inflexibility that brings with it, especially with that can being kicked as far down the road as it will be if he does come back.

Rodgers was an all time great. He should be better this season.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda is an old story with an unhappy ending. The sooner the ending arrives, the better.

    He still is.

Plenty of gas left in his tank.

Crazy thing is by his standards and what the expectations were here he's having a bad season but look at his numbers.

He still might break Ryan Fitzpatrick's single season TD record with the Jets this season. He might do it.

He is a mediocre quarterback this season. It is nice to see him playing better today, but in context that is nothing more than an anecdote.

He's coming off a ACL injury man.

He'll be better next season if the Jets give him the chance.

    He's still great.

He's not coming off an ACL injury. Man.

You have nothing other than an unsupported opinion he'll be better next year; he's not getting any younger. Same thing with being "great" - he hasn't shown that at the NY Jets.

Until he shows clear signs of physical decline why assume he's done or will be done soon? Brady played until he was 45 or 46?

He's been mediocre or bad this season yet he still may break Ryan Fitzpatrick's NYJ single season TD record. He's within striking distance with 3 games left to play.

I hope the Jets win out or at minimum win 2 of their final 3 games and Rodgers plays excellent to make the Jets decision to move on from him impossible.

    Not even close.

    ACL is knee ligament.

Achilles tendon attaches your calf muscle to your heel.

Like I said, A-ROD is not the problem with this team's record. If you would have told me we had a QB with 3,500-4,000 yards, 20-25 TD's and 10-12 INTS...We would all take that in an instant.
Bring him and DA back. I bet they BOTH take a discount to play another 2 years together.

I can only gauge his value to the NY Jets by his performance with the NY Jets; whatever he has done in the past is for fans of another team to celebrate.

I could not care less about personal records set or broken - what matters to me is winning football games.

I do not expect the Jets to win another game this year.

    Exactly.

He's just like any other member of this roster. The performance of this team this year has disgusted me to the point that I just want as many of the players on this roster to be moved elsewhere. If they find a resurgence with another team, then so be it. This team needs a complete overhaul, and that includes at QB.
