this is related to getting a HC IMO.

any young talent should be looking to leave. Sauce, Williams bros, Sherwood, hall, GW....

all of them should be looking elsewhere

I don’t care who stays or goes.

I only hope if they don’t keep some of these young players that have value in this league, that they get something for them in return

You bring up an interesting point. Only one of these guys is offensive coach, and even then the one that just had the worst offense in NFL coming out of Miami and never developed a QB in his career with previous success coming off HOF QB. I think it is time to hire an offensive coach who actually has successful offense right now and developed a QB.

I mean why do what we always do hiring defensive guys, who will only take us as far as the OC they hire? People are taking about Vrabel. No, no, no, and fuck no. We already did this again and again and again and failed. Even guys like Vrabel had most of their success when they had a good OC - in his case Arthur Smith, then failed when they didn't. I don't want that. Heck, even HOF coach Tomlin, every year had a winning record because of the defense, but then can't do shit. Now finally he has a legit chance, and guess what - he got Arthur Smith as OC, the same guy with whom Vrabel succeeded too. But it is not easy to keep finding a good OC like Smith.

I see 3 candidates I like right now. Ben Johnson, Joe Brady, and Todd Monken. Under all 3 the offense significantly improved from predecessor. All 3 developed QBs and are doing very well with modern offense right now. We can find a DC who can make our defense great again. It is MUCH harder to find an OC who will make great offense, and develop a QB, whom we will have to draft pretty soon without necessarily a top 2 pick. We need to get a successful offensive guy who proved he can develop a QB. Otherwise it will be years of failure again or inconsistency. And I get it people would take inconsistency right now over complete failure, but we have a chance to do things right, and without a star QB on the roster or a likely one in the draft this year, I just feel we have to go with one of these 3 guys or someone like them.

I mean this is the quickest way to turn this thing around. Proven offensive mind running a successful offense present day. Some people just never learn and keep wanting history to repeat itself with these "tough, hard nosed" coaches who have documented struggles on the offensive side of the ball. Meanwhile, they don't realize that while that's a very important trait to have, you also need a certain innate talent as a coach and there's not many of those out there.

I am on this page as well…I just don’t want yet another defensive first time HC. I love Aaron Glenn…he was a GREAT Jet. I don’t want him as HC. And yes I know DeMeco Ryan is doing well after succeeded Saleh as the Niners DC, but we’ve seen this movie SO many times already… I don’t want Mangini/Rex/Bowles/Saleh part 5. Enough.

I want an offensive guy. Doesn’t mean he’ll succeed…shit I REALLY wanted Daboll instead of Saleh and now looking on Daboll…he’s been really bad the last couple of years, so maybe he wasn’t the answer after all, but I just want to try something different. I’d be fine with any of those three guys you mention in Johnson, Monken, and Brady honestly. At least TRY to get someone who knows offense running the show.

And I get that we tried with Gase but that was a fucking stupid hire that we ALL knew was a terrible decision…we hired him the day after the Dolphins fired him. He was made by Peyton, not the other way around, and anyone outside of Woody fucking imbecile Johnson could see that.

Anyways, I want an offensive guy. Period. I don’t want Glenn. I don’t want Flores (though I do like the toughness there), but no more fucking defensive coaches…I want to actually watch a fucking modern NFL offense instead of watching our team struggle to get first downs and complete passes. Enough!

Glenn is the obvious choice here.

I love what Joe Brady has done with the offense here in Buffalo, and perhaps some team will want him, but I don’t see him as HC material at this point in time.

An empty office chair is the obvious choice for the job.

It really doesn't matter who they pick. He's going to fail, and in spectacular fashion to boot.

The franchise should really just turn their attention to the all-time playoff drought. They're close. It's the bit of notoriety that this franchise is even remotely capable of achieving. Embrace it and try to break the record. The Jets are so bad at achieving what they set out to, that by trying to set the all-time drought record they might stumble their way into the playoffs as a result.

I'd consider Doug Pederson for the job as well if he gets fired by Jacksonville especially if Rodgers is allowed to come back.

Not at all. I am just a frustrated Jets fan.

It would be nice for a rookie QB to come in and play great from the start but It is not realistic 99% of the time. The Qbs that do well from the start have good coaching that knows how to game plan an offense around a rookie QB or a very good supporting cast. Bo Nix and Jayden Daniels are perfect examples of this. Put those two QBs on the Jets and they would not be having near that success. It does take 6 years for QB's to reach their full potential most of the time and it still depends on circumstance.

and you see, even with teams that support them VERY WELL... Sam and Geno are middle of the pack QBs

I agree but want to point out that Jayden Daniels has been far better than Bo Nix. Nix has played well for a rookie, but he's below average as an NFL starter. Daniels has been a top 10, almost top 5 QB.

I'll go on record and say I'd love Vrabel as HC, but considering they still don't have a GM are they still continuing the cart before the horse tradition?

That was my bitch since day one about this process. Why is Woody being advised on the HC candidate list. Why don’t they focus on a top GM first and give him the authority, never mind the courtesy to select his own HC. Unless the intention is for both to independently report to Woody….which would be another unmitigated disaster.

Maybe letting Vrabel pick the GM wouldn't be the worst idea in the world.
