Jeff Hostetler won a SB with the Giants and he was a career backup. Your "Tannehill sucks" argument doesn't hold much water with this context.

Regardless of the back and forth, Vrabel is a slightly above average coach. I don't need to go through the numbers. I remember some of his play calls and sketchy offenses in big games enough with the Titans to know he is not the right guy to lead the Jets to a long-term playoff contending franchise in most years. He was also in the worst division in football for basically his entire tenure there. I think he would be a 2nd or 3rd choice, at best.

They could also clothesline quarterbacks when Hostetler left so yeah let’s not take eras into account.

I mean 2nd or 3rd choice and above average coach is a far cry from you calling him garbage literally a page back.

And what other options did he have? Marcus Mariota. Did he choose the roster?

Anyone open to Eric Bienemy as OC depending on the head coach we sign?

Fair enough. That was a bit harsh. I still want the Jets to go in a different direction but we'll see if he ends up here.

I think this underscores why Vrabel is a solid coach, but not great. It's clear that Arthur Smith is a very good OC. What he has done without a great QB for the Titans, what he is doing now in Pitts with Fields and then Russ. Not sure if he is a great HC, that he is yet to prove. But what we do know is that Vrabel can't win without a terrific OC. Can he get one? Can he find an Arthur Smith or will he find another Downing and Keith Carter? I just don't know and I would prefer a coach who can run the offense.

Ben Johnson may be a pipe dream, but perhaps someone like Todd Monken? I just want a HC to be able to design and call good offense. I think there is a way to get a good DC and much harder to get a good OC. Particularly someone who can work with a QB that is not a superstar and maybe help identify a good QB in the draft. So, if it came down to Arthur Smith/Kingsbury or Vrabel, I would go with one of the former ones because they have proven they can build good offense.

He flamed out in Washington calling plays, why would we want him here?

Belichick could be off the board. Surprisingly, he is shunning the NFL altogether for the green pastures of Chapel Hill.

Never coached college before and now might be taking over UNC.

    Hard pass for me

    What has he done?

KC’s success was not due to him…I think we’ve seen that’s due to Mahomes and Reid.

He didn’t do well in Washington

And just got fired from whatever college gig he had I think

I wouldn’t interview him for HC

It does not matter who the Jets get as HC or GM. There will be a loud portion of this fanbase that will hate him and be calling for their head after the first loss or draft pick. NY Jets is a no-win situation.

Last season it was all because of ZW now AR just stinks come on. Saleh was not the greatest HC but it is clear the defense was his not Ulbrich and you do not fire him four games in. The truth is Woody has been meddling for a long time and has ruined the Jets. From bringing in Favre and Tebow to benching Zach last season when Boyle is his backup to bringing Rodgers.

This fan base cannot handle bringing in another rookie QB. Sanchez, Geno, Darnold and Zach. what makes you think we will do better with the next rookie?

This franchise needs a solid o-line and vet QB to have a chance. It does not matter who the gM is or the coach as long as Woddy is here. The only chance the Jets have at the playoffs in the near future is vet QB and solid o-line.

If I were a top draft pick QB and got drafted by the Jets I would pull an Eli Manning or an Elway.

Lot of truth here. We’ve failed multiple times with rookie QBs…but out of those 4, 2 went on to some success, Darnold now and Geno 10 years later but still..

Woody is an idiot…not that Saleh & JD didn’t deserve to be fired based on their actual record, but Woody is too clueless to anticipate the outcome…if we were more on the pulse of the team, he’d have known Saleh’s firing and Ulbrich’s promotion wasn’t the way to go.

Totally agree that Woody’s meddling sucks…has it ever led to winning?

And also agree that if it were my kid being drafted, I’d try and pull a Manning also…this team is toxic

Both, spot on. The NY Jets, as an overall organization, is a double edged sword with double edges on both sides of the original edges. Toss on a fanbase, yours truly included, that seem to "think" we know more football than we actually do and a media base that does nothing but FEED the fans psychopathy and it's a recipe for complete disaster. As has been PROVEN over the course of the last 50 years or so. Let's face it, we're not speculating here. The PROOF is out there for everyone to see.

The organization is run by a complete idiot that could take a guaranteed business, like a McDonalds in the middle of Manhattan, and turn it into shit. About the "only" thing the Johnsons could do at this point would be to either sell or hire a guy like Pete Carroll to be the VP of Football Operations and then those two Johnson idiots literally pull a "D.B. Cooper" never to be seen or heard from again. Unfortunately, no one, who is worth two shits, would ever associate their name with this organization.

I keep hearing Vrabel's name tossed around. I'm not just sick to death but SICK TO DEATH of hearing anyone, associated with defense, being bandied about as the head coach of this team. It's old, tired, nauseating...you name it, throw in the adjective, to think that, yet another, defensive minded guy would helm this damn team! Hello....McFly!!!!! The entire damn league is full blown offense driven and here we are throwing around names like Vrabel. Blows ass, though, because there's not a one hot shot offensive minded guy who I think would stake their long term career on even giving this shit show a chance.

To be quite frank, I'm not sure what this team is going to do. I have Z-E-R-O faith in anything the Johnsons concoct and have resigned myself to 1 of 2 fates:

    1. Either I accept the fact that no one of any real consequence is coming to GM/Coach this team or
    2. Find another team
I see no alternatives and NO ONE, repeating, NO ONE who has any current NFL success, with designs on any long term NFL success, is coming to this team. They WILL end up hiring an "also ran" re-tread or someone no one has ever heard of. A guy like Ben Johnson is going to have his pick of the litter when it comes to H.C. jobs and, as some have correctly pointed out, the NY Jets will be dead last on the list of teams who will be looking for a new HC. Unless, of course, Carolina decides to fire their current guy then that spot would be dead last. It truly "is what it is."

So what do you crybaby’s propose? We never try to draft a quarterback again? We continue to sign Ryan Fitzpatrick’s until the franchise is sold in 2086 and hope we lose a wild card game here and there?

I don’t get posts like that. Woody’s a jerkoff so let’s just do our best to be mediocre lol.

I have no idea. Do you? The numero uno primary shit stain driver of this entire operation isn't changing so what do YOU propose that isn't an idiotic option? Unfortunately for ALL of us, Woody, the Jerkoff, IS STILL running the show so.........

I mean, damn bro'. The season is just barely past half over at this point and "we" still don't know who will be ultimately fired. The ONLY thing I can guarantee you, 100%, is that whatever head coaching list bubbles up after the Super Bowl, the NY Jets will be spot on at the bottom of available choices for the HC Candiates. Period. Unless, of course, the Carolina Panthers decide to go looking for coach 7 in 6 years, the Jets will be dead last.

So, outside "whining" exactly what do you "think' we should be doing? Personally, I'd rather whine the rest of the 2024 season than waste my time speculating about a bunch of men that are NEVER going to park their "boat" on the shores of NY Jets "Hell" Island.

The hilarity of it all... Fitzpatrick probably wouldn't touch this turd of an organization with a 1,000 mile pole. LOL!!!
