If we bring in an offensive coach that’s going to focus on the offense and call his own plays, boy he better have a good track record of having good offenses. Smith doesn’t although he has some here and there. I’m out on him as well.
why would anybody want to coach or gm here. are next coach will be Mr. Magoo or daffy duck. i would like Buggs bunny.
smith is awesome with Pittsburgh. We saw first hand with the nice little ass whooping on SNF I think Vrabel is helping out the browns. They are somehow worse than us
Guys, you want to know where you end up with Vrabel? A little above .500 just like his 6 year head coaching career indicates. A 2-3 career playoff record. You are what your record says you are. He choked in big games which was the knock on him. That's the last guy you want as a top coach. Vrabel is meh and will drive fans crazy with his much maligned offenses and play calls. That's hardly an ideal candidate. All these Jets boards out there saying he is an ideal candidate are absolute jokes. He is far from that. Pete Carroll is an ideal candidate. A proven Super Bowl winner who is a rainmaker. However, he's not coming here even though I've been putting his name out there since Day 1. Vrabel is not even in the same stratosphere. Jets fans are so battered that they think a used Hummer is an ideal car. Not even close. Hard Pass.
He also had the most dominating RB in the NFL for his entire 6 year HC stint and still couldn't win big games in the playoffs.
What team with a top RB in the league and an average to below average QB has made it to a SB? The NFL’s leading rusher has appeared in the SB twice in 25 years and only 4 leading rushers have won the SB (Emmitt Smith - 3x, Terrell Davis - 1x). What kind of goofy ass measuring stick is that? You forgot he beat the 14-2 Ravens in Baltimore or the 12-4 Patriots in New England? They lost to the AFC representative in 2/3 of the years they were eliminated.
How many Super Bowls have the Ravens won with Lamar? Similar to Vrabel's Titans, they are both good regular season teams who shit the bed in the playoffs consistently. He's a slightly above .500 coach with a below .500 playoff record.
Another dumb metric taking zero context into account and also as if there’s a long list of available coaches with a +.500 playoff record. And a lot of the active one’s are guys with limited games like Dan Quinn (3-2), Doug Pederson (5-3), etc. Are Tomlin (8-10), Matt LaFleur (3-4), and Sean McDermott (5-6) bad coaches too?
Henry isn’t just “the NFLs leading rusher” though. He’s a big bodied RB that comes along once in a generation. An all-timer born for playoff football
Vrabel with Arthur Smith. 2 seasons, 1 division title, 2 playoff wins (20-12) Vrabel after Smith left: 3 seasons, 1 division title, zero playoff wins (25-26) ...since we're talking about both guys
That doesn’t make up for the fact that they were trotting Ryan Tannehill out there to try to win playoff games. How many games did Adrian Peterson take over and win with average QB play? It’s too hard to expect any position to drive a team to a lot of big playoff wins unless it’s a quarterback.
right but he's the one that chose Ryan Tannehill, benching Mariota. Not sure I'd use that as an excuse
Dude cmon. So Mariota was the ticket that would’ve gotten them more playoff wins even though he’s been a career backup for the last 5 years?
what a redemption story that would be. A failed coach comes back 50 years later and leads the Jets to the superbowl from his walker
