Who do you propose should be involved in identifying the best candidates for GM and HC?

I can sorta understand them aiding in the GM search not the HC search.

The new HC should be picked by the new GM.

Any other way is just more dysfunction.

Knowing the Jets they could hire the HC before the GM.

    I know right.

The dude has owned a NFL team for nearly a quarter century now and still has no clue how to pick his own people.

To me it's not that difficult. Who are the top organizations in the sport? The teams always in contention? Go there. Hire someone from there with intimate knowledge how those teams are built and run not the team accontant.

To me the model organization is the Pittsburgh Steelers that's the tree I would pick my next GM from. Could also be from Baltimore or Philadelphia. The Eagles got rid of Andy Reid who's built a dynasty in KC after having a strong run in Phildalphia the Eagles still won a SB without him and went to another without him. That's a organization that knows what it's doing.

John Idzik and Adam Gase. They fit the criteria.

Yes ..but no more Balt/Philadelphia as that's how we ended up with GM Joe D

I would ask Pitt MInny or Detroit what their secret sauce is

Agree on those three organizations…they are the best in the game I think…KC has been great since Andy Reid as well but that’s him…

You know how I know the franchise is fucked? Because fans are so desperate that they’re actually ok with bringing back awful failed losers like Tannenbaum to help the team in any capacity. Stockholm syndrome at its finest. Where’s the line of failure in your mind? Tannenbaum’s ok but some other shitty retread wouldn’t be? Idzik’s drafting sucked but he did clear put the massive cap mess Tannenbaum left us with, why not him? Hell, why not hire them all back to consult for us?

Why do you keep dwelling on the past? Just because you're hung up on guys who haven't been around for over a decade doesn't mean it has any bearing on what is going on today.

Where is your plan? You haven't displayed a single independent thought since you got here. But you're great at whining about things that already happened.

Because Idzik was only GM for two years with 12-20 record, and no play-offs. Come on now, this is getting ridiculous. How can you compare two year GM Idzik with a loser record to someone like Spielman, who was a 16 year GM with a winning record. Or even Tanny, who was a 7 year GM with winning record and 3 play-offs, 2 Conf Finals appearances. I know they haven't won a SB, but throwing Idzik in the same category is just illogical and not fair to the other guys.

I wonder how much Woody is paying them... honestly seems like a rip off as anyone with the internet can generate a list of the top candidates to interview for both positions.

The Redskins hired them last year but their owner was new and it was his first hire, makes sense that he'd want some guidance. As others have said, its been 25 years, Woody Johnson ought to have a clue how to do this himself. But oh well it's his money to blow, not mine

still a bargain considering the current jets are ripping off woody for about 300 mil and saleh and jd who ripped woody off for about 50 mil pretending to be a coach and gm, time for woody to use a lifeline as he is incompetent in making decisions on his own like a toddler

Because you learn from the past. Look at us, a front page arguing the merits of bringing back Mike Tannenbaum, another thread stating we should hire Rex again, another one stating ee should bring back Darnold and Geno. We fuck up royally time and time again to the point we’re actually justifying bringing back our past failures simply because they weren’t quite as awful as the shit we have today. Joe Douglas might be diahrea squirts, but Tannenbaum was shit here too. We’re literally arguing that the turd Tannenbaum is more palatable than the turd Douglas. It’s pathetic. No I don’t know who we dhould hire. But a guy with Billions of dollars should be able to do better than hiring a known turd, especially when he was the guy who fired the turd.

I think 24 year sample size, 14 year old playoff drought, hiring first time coaches/inexperienced coaches/gms, failed Favre experiment proves Woody Johnson will never learn from his mistakes, and will just rinse and repeat.

So much so that he has to hire his mistakes again just to be sure apparently. I get it, he’s Woody. What I don’t get is how people can support it.

Because anyone including a chimp making a coaching, and gm hire other than Woody is a upgrade, I rather have a 2 year old pick our gm and head coach than Woody, he has a better chance to get it right. The only thing Woody has gotten right in the 24 years as owner is the marketing departments as they keep convincing fools to buy tickets.

I am just happy that it appears Woody realized his massive limitations. Besides, even as owner, you may not know say the exact role Halaby plays in player evaluations. How much has Borgonzi is involved in the decisions making for KC Chiefs. The list goes on and on. A guy like Spielman has this information. It's a smart thing to do to get help even if you were an owner for a long time, particularly in Woody's case.

Even Tanny aside, where we disagree if he is useful or not, but last I checked Spielman was never hired by Woody. He is a big part of evaluation process, 16 year GM, interviews GMs and coaches routinely, already did a good job for Washington just last year. Are you going to ignore that he is a huge part of it?
