I'm about the same. Need different setups for fluking - seabass, striper live lining, striper trolling, tuna jigging, trolling, giant tuna, wahoo, etc.

I find however that I'm getting more utility from my tuna jigging rod and reel which I use for striper, tuna, seabass, blackfish.. Its got a Fin Nor 20 with multi color 60 lb braid.

I'm not one to use lightweight tackle to have more "sport" with the fish. I will use a crane as long as I get the fish on the boat.

Ha, I'm the opposite.... my little Seigler SGN has made me a believer. 40lb fish with a reel that fits in the palm of my hand

you better not start "slow-pitch jigging" or everything will change..... The Penn Senators rarely get touched anymore.

My new quest is a sailfish on a topwater plug....

My wife would say too many. :)

I'd have to count, but at least 7 freshwater rods. 6 Deep Drop blades, 6 heavy SW, 5 Medium SW off the top of my head...

I'm waiting until the Christmas season begins to put my unused stuff on the Net for sale.

    Uh...no.

My neighbor has about 100 rod and reel setups hanging in the ceiling of his garage. He said it was due to the different uses for them.

I said "OK what is that one for?" pointing to a miscellaneous rod/reel combo. He said "Oh that's a friends rod".

I said "that's nice your fixing it for a friend".

He said "No, If a friend comes fishing I give him that rod".

I get it. My Cousin decided he wanted to go inshore fishing on a headboat so I set him up with a Penn combo. No way was he getting anything other than a rig I could afford to lose. Ended up giving it to him as I didn't use it anyway.

    :(

Ha, same here, I have a few combos to have around for when my brother visits or I bring people on the boat (especially younger guys.. "What are you doing with that?" (pointy to janky reel with shitty line in back of his truck "I've caught some good fish on this rod"... "Not on my boat" lol).... most of those are my older stuff that i've upgraded but have also bought a few 2nd hand ones for that purpose ( I should liquidate some... although they can come in handy as "backups" when the "go-to" has an issue and its a day to go fish)

I owned and operated a furniture restoration business for 25 years. Many times a customer would offer me old rods and reels. Some I bought.

I just can't part with them. They are wooden octagonal with tied on fucked up glass lined guides. The reels are old Oceans, etc.

I look at them and think if they could only speak what tales they would tell.
